Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Policy now supports Bedrock Guardrails in US West (Oregon) and US East (Ohio)
Today, AWS announces that Amazon Bedrock AgentCore Policy now supports Amazon Bedrock Guardrails in the AWS US West (Oregon) and US East (Ohio) Regions. AgentCore Policy is an authorization capability within Amazon Bedrock AgentCore that controls which actions AI agents are authorized to take. Amazon Bedrock Guardrails give enterprises defenses against the top security and safety risks in AI agent workloads, including prompt injection attacks and sensitive data exposure.
With this expansion, customers running agents in these two Regions can apply the same safety and security controls closer to where their workloads and data already reside. Amazon Bedrock Guardrails can evaluate the outputs of every authorized agent action and the inputs of every call to a gateway target, including tools, agents, and models, in real time. This helps detect and block prompt injection attacks, harmful content, and sensitive information exposure before they reach downstream systems. Guardrail results are evaluated in policy at the AgentCore Gateway perimeter, outside the agent's code, ensuring consistent enforcement regardless of agent autonomy, and all policy evaluations are logged through AgentCore observability for optimization and auditing. Customers can author policies through natural language or policy-as-code and apply those policies to new or existing gateways.
With this launch, Amazon Bedrock Guardrails are available in AgentCore Policy in US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), Europe (London), Europe (Stockholm), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Asia Pacific (Tokyo). To learn more, visit Amazon Bedrock AgentCore or explore the documentation.
