AWS End User Messaging SMS now supports area code selection for 10DLC phone numbers
AWS End User Messaging now lets you choose the area code when you request a ten digit long code (10DLC) phone number for sending SMS to recipients in the United States. Previously, the area code of a new 10DLC number was assigned automatically. With area code selection, you can request a number whose area code matches the local presence of your business. This helps businesses that serve specific regions present a consistent local identity to their customers.
You can select an area code when requesting a 10DLC phone number using either the AWS End User Messaging SMS console or the API. You can search for available numbers that begin with, end with, or contain a specified digit pattern, or match it exactly, and then request a number from the results.
Area code selection for 10DLC phone numbers is generally available in all AWS Regions where AWS End User Messaging SMS is supported.
