Data Strategy Diagnostic
Is it the technology? The data quality? The organizational structure? Or the fact that business and IT don't agree on priorities? Our diagnostic cuts through the surface issues to identify what's actually blocking progress across people, process, data, and technology.
What's blocking your transformation and how to fix it
Most organizations know they have data and AI challenges. What they don't know is which challenge to solve first. Our diagnostic cuts through the surface issues to identify root causes across four dimensions: mindset, people, process, and technology. You'll get a prioritized roadmap showing exactly where to focus with recommendations you can act on immediately.
Four dimensions of assessment
We assess your organization across four dimensions, drawing on patterns we've seen working with thousands of AWS customers navigating similar challenges.
How does your organization make important decisions? By data or by opinion?
- Do executives trust data enough to make decisions with it?
- Does your organization see AI as automation or transformation?
Do you have the right skills in the right places, or the wrong skills in the wrong places?
- Where are your data skills concentrated—IT or business units?
- Can business people access and use data without tickets to IT?
How do decisions actually get made, and who has authority to change processes?
- Do business and IT agree on which processes to transform first?
- Who has authority to approve changes to core business processes?
Is your tech stack enabling transformation or preventing it?
- Can you actually access the data you need when you need it?
- How long does it take to go from pilot to production?
How it works
Subheading: If you need to, explain the section's content in more detail
Pre-work: 30 minutes
We send a brief questionnaire to 5-10 stakeholders across business and IT. This helps us understand the landscape before the workshop.
Workshop: Half-day
We facilitate a conversation with your key stakeholders—business leaders, IT, operations, whoever owns the processes you want to transform. We map where you are and identify what's blocking progress.
Analysis: We do the work
Our team analyzes what we heard, identifies root causes (not just symptoms), and builds a prioritized roadmap.
Results: 1-2 weeks
We present findings and recommendations in a working session. You'll leave with specific next steps and immediate actions you can take.
Frequently asked questions
Who should attend the workshop?
Include people who disagree with each other. Seriously. If business and IT don't agree on priorities, bring both. If multiple executives think they own the same process, bring all of them. The diagnostic works best when the political tensions are in the room, not hidden.
How is this different from hiring a consulting firm?
Three differences: (1) It's free for AWS customers, (2) It's fast: half a day plus two weeks, not three months, (3) We're not trying to sell you a six-month engagement. We give you the roadmap and you decide what to do next.
What happens after the diagnostic?
You own the roadmap. Some organizations use it to build internal consensus and execute themselves. Others engage us or our partners for specific initiatives. There's no obligation. The diagnostic stands on its own.
Do we need to be an AWS customer?
Yes. The diagnostic is free for AWS customers as a value-added service. If you're not yet using AWS, we can discuss your situation.

One-page summary you can share with your executive team. Clear, concise, no jargon.
