Marco Paini is VP of Quantum Finance and Quantum Machine Learning Solutions at Rigetti Computing, where he leads the growth of Rigetti’s financial services and QML practice. His role includes advancing proprietary solutions, building a specialized team, and fostering strategic partnerships with industry and academia. Recent QML collaborations include HSBC, Standard Chartered, ADIA (Abu Dhabi Investment Authority), Imperial College London, and the University of Edinburgh. Marco also heads Rigetti UK and has been overseeing the deployment of its latest quantum computing architecture at the UK National Quantum Computing Centre. Previously, he managed the development of the UK’s first commercial quantum computer—a Rigetti-led initiative with industrial and academic partners. Before Rigetti, Marco led quantum computing applications portfolio development at QxBranch, a quantum computing software firm acquired by Rigetti in 2019. Earlier, he spent over eighteen years at Accenture in various technology roles. In the last part of his career with Accenture, Marco oversaw the AI ecosystem and the development of the quantum computing offering for the Accenture UKI Financial Services Technology Advisory practice. Marco studied physics at the University of Pavia, where he collaborated with the Quantum Information Theory Group of the University of Pavia.
