LEGO walls, security talks, live interviews, and more at Day 1 of AWS re:Invent 2016
Day 1 of AWS re:Invent 2016 wrapped up last night with a fantastic Welcome Reception in the Expo Hall, and Tuesday Night Live with James Hamilton! Earlier in the day, re:Invent attendees participated in AWS Certification Exams, Bootcamps, Hands-on Labs, and a wide range of Breakout Sessions from Scaling to Your First 10 million Users to Cost Optimizing Your Architecture (review all Day 1 sessions here). There was even a re:Source Mini Con for attendees interested in learning in a deep dive on security. Check out this quick recap of the scaling security resources session, given by two attendees from CloudPassage.
The AWS Startups team was busy all day taking photos, Tweeting, and interviewing attendees! Here are AWS Evangelists Mackenzie Kosut and Abby Fuller with Josh Levy, author of the AWS Open Guide, getting a tour of his GitHub repo.
We were also fortunate to spend a few minutes with Amazon.com CTO, Dr. Werner Vogels, at the Dev Lounge in the AWS re:Invent Expo Hall, who told us “You aren’t really experimenting if you already know the outcome.” Watch the full interview to find out what he means!
If you didn’t catch our full interview with AWS CEO, Andy Jassy, on Pre-Day, make sure you check it out.
Day 2 of AWS re:Invent started early this morning, with a 6 a.m. 5k run from The Mirage. Today will kick-off with the keynote presented by Andy Jassy, loads of excellent Breakout Sessions, and wrap up with the annual Pub Crawl. If you’re still looking for cool startup sessions to attend today, here are a few we’re excited for:
- IoT State of the Union
- Save up to 90% and Run Production Workloads on Spot – Featuring IFTTT and Mapbox
- Attitude of Iteration
Please make sure to keep up with @AWSreInvent and @AWSstartups on Twitter for live coverage of the event, and check back tomorrow for the Day 2 recap. Enjoy!
