Amazon EC2 X8i Instances
Enhanced memory capacity for memory intensive workloads
Why Amazon EC2 X8i Instances?
Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) X8i instances, are powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors, available only on AWS, and deliver the highest performance and fastest memory bandwidth among comparable Intel processors in the cloud. The X8i instances offer 1.5x more memory capacity (up to 6TB), and up to 3.4x more memory bandwidth compared to previous generation X2i instances. X8i instances will be SAP HANA certified, delivering up to 46% higher SAPS performance for mission-critical SAP workloads. These instances are ideal for memory-intensive databases such as SAP HANA, SQL Server, data analytics and Electronic Design Automation (EDA) workloads.
Benefits
X8i instances will offer up to 50% more memory and 35% higher compute performance compared to previous generation instances. X8i provides multiple sizes with varying amounts of vCPU, memory, networking, and storage, enabling improved scaling for memory intensive workloads.
With X8i instances you can run in-memory databases such as SAP HANA, traditional large-scale databases, data analytics and Electronic Design Automation (EDA) workloads.
X8i instances support Instance Bandwidth Configuration (IBC) feature, offering flexibility in allocating resources between network and Amazon Elastic Block Storage (Amazon EBS) bandwidth.
Features
X8i instances are powered by custom Intel Xeon 6 processors with a sustained all-core turbo frequency of 3.9 GHz. These custom processors offer the highest compute performance and fastest memory among comparable Intel processors in the cloud.
X8i instances deliver 1.5x more memory (up to 6TB) and up to 3.4x higher memory throughput compared to previous generation instances by using DDR5 7200MT/s DIMMs.
The AWS Nitro System is the foundation for our next generation of EC2 instances that enables AWS to innovate faster, further reduce cost for our customers, and deliver added benefits like increased security and new instance types.
