As the vice president and chief information officer at Xavier University of Louisiana (XULA), Dr. Moore manages all academic and administrative technologies for the campus including networking and cyber security. Facing the challenge of climate change head-on (enduring five hurricanes in five years), Dr. Moore drove the strategic decision to improve the resilience, sustainability, and security of XULA systems by moving to the cloud. Today 85 percent of XULA’s enterprise, administrative and teaching and learning systems are in AWS cloud. Their investment in cloud infrastructure enabled XULA to weather a cyber security incident in Nov 2022.
Dr. Moore is the recipient of a number of awards, most recently she was named "Community Day Hometown Hero’" at Essence Festival 2023 by the Student Freedom Initiative. Dr. Moore is a winner of the EDSCOOP 50 Awards (2022) as one of the top 50 CIOs in Higher Education, and recipient of the Women’s Leadership Awards (2019 and 2015) by the Women’s Leadership Annual Conference, Savannah State University.
Dr. Moore has served as an educator, administrator, change agent, and faculty member for more than 30 years in the transformation and globalization of organizations using information and education technology. Her greatest strengths are communicating, planning, and executing strategies, reducing costs and complexity, and guiding people through change. Moore has prior work experience as vice president of institutional research and planning, dean of technology, dean of learning systems, and chief technology officer and assistant superintendent for a large urban school district.
Dr. Moore holds a doctor of philosophy from the University of Texas at Austin in Educational Leadership, a Master of Computer Science & Networking from Southern University Baton Rouge, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Louisiana State University. She teaches graduate level courses in computer science, educational leadership, strategic planning, and information technology & resources.
A native of Baton Rouge, born in New Orleans, Louisiana she enjoys traveling and exploring other cultures, cooking, spending time with family and working in public service and community projects.
