Guidance for Crop Growth Simulation Models using DSSAT on AWS
Use Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer for more efficient crop management
Overview
This Guidance demonstrates how to use Decision Support System for Agrotechnology Transfer (DSSAT) crop growth simulation technology to more efficiently run crop simulation models. DSSAT is a software application program that comprises crop simulation models for over 42 crops (as of Version 4.8) in addition to tools that facilitate effective use of the models.
By deploying DSSAT on AWS and using its available environmental datasets, you can collect data on plant characteristics and a crop’s vegetative and reproductive development stage. This helps you compare simulated outcomes and multi-year outcomes to make better decisions for crop management, grain marketing, logistics and supply chain, and risk management.
How it works
These technical details feature an architecture diagram to illustrate how to effectively use this solution. The architecture diagram shows the key components and their interactions, providing an overview of the architecture's structure and functionality step-by-step.
Well-Architected Pillars
The architecture diagram above is an example of a Solution created with Well-Architected best practices in mind. To be fully Well-Architected, you should follow as many Well-Architected best practices as possible.
