Acentra Health

 USA

 Champion since 2024

Acentra Health combines public sector knowledge, clinical expertise, and technological ingenuity to modernize the healthcare experience for state and federal partners and their priority populations. With headquarters in McLean, Virginia, the company’s 3,200 global employees work across 22 U.S. office locations and one India office. From designing and developing advanced claims, encounter, and provider solutions that drive efficiency and cost savings to delivering clinically focused service models for care management, clinical assessments, and quality oversight, Acentra Health’s services support 45+ state agencies and 25 federal agencies across 12 departments, improving the lives of over 140 million beneficiaries nationwide.

Acentra Health was the first AWS Partner to transition a core Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS) system to the AWS cloud, delivering improved healthcare outcomes and revolutionizing Medicaid administration. Acentra Health’s MMIS platform has enabled faster deployment of the company’s products and solutions and delivered greater access to real-time data insights for its state clients, resulting in improved health outcomes and reduced overall operational costs. The success of its MMIS in the cloud was underscored by the company’s historic 19-month MMIS implementation — a process that previously required three years.

The collaboration between Acentra Health and AWS facilitates the creation of innovative healthcare products and solutions by capitalizing on AWS’ cloud services and Acentra Health’s expertise in the healthcare sector. For example, by harnessing AWS’s AI and machine learning capabilities, Acentra Health is developing and deploying intelligent healthcare applications that are transforming healthcare delivery, leading to improved patient outcomes and reduced healthcare costs. Acentra Health also partnered with AWS to develop a unified data platform (UDP) — a foundational platform that unifies, analyzes, and democratizes data through APIs and cloud-native services. The UDP has enabled Acentra Health to deliver deeper data insight and analysis for decision-making, resulting in greater operational efficiencies for its state clients. Additionally, the development of UDP also supported Acentra Health’s efforts to advance its capabilities to improve Medicaid processes, thereby enhancing the company’s impact on the healthcare industry.

What is the AWS Champions Program?

The AWS Champions program recognizes, celebrates, and supports organizations and individuals driving digital transformation with cloud computing. AWS recognizes AWS Education Champions, AWS State and Local Government Champions, AWS EdTech Champions, and AWS GovTech Champions.

The purpose of the program is to acknowledge customers that have used AWS products and services in innovative ways to improve the service to their communities, constituents, customers, stakeholders, staff, students, faculty or researchers. Champions’ experiences and success stories serve as inspiration for other education, state and local government, EdTech and GovTech customers to reference as they think about their own digital transformation journey.
