Gwinnett County Public Schools
Georgia, USA
Champion since 2024
Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS), located north of Atlanta, is Georgia’s largest school district. More than 24,000 GCPS educators and support staff serve over 182,000 students in 142 schools. The scale of their recent achievements is awe-inspiring, with 31 Quest Bridge honorees, 7 Gates Scholars, 4 Georgia Scholars, 9 Posse Scholars, eight service academy appointments, more than $242.2 million in scholarships (not including HOPE and National Merit awards), and hundreds of other awards for the Class of 2024.
GCPS selected AWS as its digital transformation partner for its Cybersecurity Resiliency and Disaster Recovery initiative. With cybercriminals increasingly targeting K-12 school districts, educational institutions must exercise forethought and proactive leadership to ensure that educational and operational services can continue with minimal disruption during a cyberattack. The leadership team at GCPS exemplifies these qualities. By leveraging AWS's robust infrastructure and services, GCPS has significantly improved its resilience against cyber threats and is confident it can continue delivering mission-critical services to its students, families, and employees during emergencies.
What is the AWS Champions Program?
The AWS Champions program recognizes, celebrates, and supports organizations and individuals driving digital transformation with cloud computing. AWS recognizes AWS Education Champions, AWS State and Local Government Champions, AWS EdTech Champions, and AWS GovTech Champions.
The purpose of the program is to acknowledge customers that have used AWS products and services in innovative ways to improve the service to their communities, constituents, customers, stakeholders, staff, students, faculty or researchers. Champions’ experiences and success stories serve as inspiration for other education, state and local government, EdTech and GovTech customers to reference as they think about their own digital transformation journey.
