Today, Amazon Lookout for Vision is generally available to all AWS customers. Amazon Lookout for Vision is a machine learning (ML) service that spots defects and anomalies in visual representations of manufactured products using computer vision (CV), allowing you to automate quality inspection.
In today’s manufacturing industry, production line shutdowns due to missed defects or quality inconsistencies can result in millions of dollars of cost overruns and lost revenue each year. Quality assurance in industrial processes typically requires human inspection, which can be costly, slow, and difficult to scale. With Amazon Lookout for Vision, you can automate visual inspection with CV for processes like quality control and defect assessment - with no machine learning experience required. The service uses CV to identify problems such as part damage (like dents, scratches, or poor welding), missing product components, or defects with repeating patterns, which can point to underlying process or machine issues.
With Amazon Lookout for Vision you can get started in minutes by providing as few as 30 images of the acceptable and anomalous state for the process you want to visually inspect, such as machine parts or manufactured products. Once you have uploaded your images, the service analyzes images from your cameras that monitor the process line to spot differences between the baseline images provided and the image feed from the process line. The service then quickly and accurately reports anomalies like dents, cracks, and scratches. Reports are available in an easy to use dashboard in the AWS management console, so that you can take action quickly and reduce further defects – saving you time and money.

Amazon Lookout for Vision is available directly via the AWS console as well as through supporting partners to help customers embed computer vision into existing operating systems within their facilities.
