Data Strategy - Program Roadmap

AWS will advise and assist Customer with the development of a data strategy roadmap and planning a minimum viable product (MVP) including elements of each track of the roadmap as identified by AWS and Customer. AWS will further provide guidance, based on AWS general best practices, for the recommended projects and on scaling capabilities beyond the initial identified roadmap items as set forth below (“AWS Modern Data Strategy Roadmap”)..

AWS Modern Data Strategy Roadmap

The AWS Modern Data Strategy Roadmap includes the following seven (7) workstreams:

Activities: Business Initiatives

AWS will advise and assist Customer to identify one (1) existing / planned business initiative as the driver of the roadmap. The business initiative is expected to be previously vetted, funded, and positioned to provide direct value to the business. AWS will further assist Customer to identify one (1) MVP delivery, driving the scope of all workstreams for the MVP, as the first implementation iteration within the business initiative.

Activities: Applications / Analytic Use Cases

AWS will assist Customer to identify two (2) – four (4) applications or analytic use cases planned within targeted business initiatives. The projects associated with these applications / use cases are expected to be previously vetted, funded, and positioned to provide direct value to the business as part of their associated business initiative.AWS will further assist Customer to select one (1) application or analytic use case for the MVP for detailed planning, including associated activities from each of the workstreams below.

Activities: Data Domains

AWS will assist Customer to identify data domain projects / epics to deliver elements of data domains needed to support business initiatives. AWS will further assist Customer to identify one (1) data domain project / epic to support the targeted application / use case MVP for implementation planning.

Activities: Data Management Capabilities

AWS will assist Customer to identify data management projects / epics to deliver or enhance data management capability to ensure readiness of the data domains for targeted business initiatives and applications / use cases. AWS will provide recommendations, based on AWS general best practices to enable data interoperability, consistency, and reuse beyond initial use cases. Each data management project / epic will include elements needed to support readiness of the data for the applications / use cases including: data quality management, data integration, master data management, data profiling, data catalog, and data lineage. AWS will further assist Customer to identify one data management project / epic for detailed planning (across necessary data management capabilities) to support data readiness for the application / use case associated with the targeted MVP.

Data Strategy - Program Roadmap (continued)

AWS will assist Customer to identify data architecture and engineering projects / epics to leverage or enhance Customer’s current data analytic architecture, including data lakes, data warehouses, and related ingestion and access mechanisms within Customer’s data environment.

Activities: Data Architecture and Engineering

AWS will further assist Customer to identify one (1) data architecture and engineering project / epic for detailed planning to support the targeted MVP.

Activities: Data Security

AWS will assist Customer to identify data security projects am/ epics to protect any sensitive data associated with targeted business initiatives and applications / analytic use cases. AWS will further assist Customer to identify one data security project / epic for detail planning to protect sensitive data associated with the targeted MVP.

For avoidance of doubt, AWS will not handle any Customer sensitive data, but will assist Customer in identifying security projects / epics, along with guidance for a targeted MVP, that could be used to protect Customer’s sensitive data associated with targeted business initiatives and applications/analytics use cases.

Activities: Operating Model

AWS will assist Customer to identify operating model projects / epics to enable data governance organization and process to support data readiness for the applications / analytic use cases. AWS will further assist Customer to identify one operating model project / epic for detailed planning (across multiple elements of the operating model as needed) to support the targeted MVP.

Deliverables:

AWS will provide the following deliverables to Customer during the engagement (“Deliverables”):

  • Documented AWS Modern Data Strategy Roadmap including the following:
    • Executive Summary Presentation
    • Document outlining identified and recommended projects / epics and associated scope
    • Document detailing the MVP implementation plan with associated workstreams, timeline, and resource requirements
  • Data Governance Charter – A document outlining the roles, responsibilities, data management capabilities, and operating model, including specific elements as required for the initial MVP with guidance on expanding the charter beyond initial areas

Customer Responsibilities

  • Customer is solely responsible for all activities in its production environments where software, applications, code, or other products are placed into live operation for their intended use by internal or external end users, including:
