Nafood Improves Crop Traceability and Farm Efficiency with the Help of Cropin and AWS ISV Accelerate Program

Overview

Nafoods Group improved crop traceability and farm efficiency after implementing Cropin Grow, a comprehensive and highly configurable farm management platform designed to optimize agricultural efficiency, predictability, and sustainability. Cropin is an independent software vendor (ISV) with a mission to maximize farms’ per-acre value and make every farm traceable. A member of the AWS Partner Network, Cropin was named AWS Public Sector Startup Partner of the Year in 2022 for delivering innovative, mission-based wins.

About Nafoods Group

Nafoods is an agriculture company based in Vietnam that grows, processes, and exports fruit and vegetable products including juices and purees. The enterprise works with more than 7,000 farmers across 1,900 acres to grow high-quality produce. Nafoods is working to digitize its farm operations and boost automation as the company expands its overseas and domestic customer base.

Opportunity | Matching Opportunities with the Right Partner

AWS Partner Cropin is an ISV that helps agriculture businesses unlock value through digitization and artificial intelligence. Its cloud-based solutions empower agricultural ecosystems by providing comprehensive farm monitoring and management, fostering farmer engagement, ensuring product traceability, and supporting data-driven decision-making within the farming industry.

To drive new business, Cropin joined the AWS ISV Accelerate Program. As part of the program, Cropin worked with AWS to organize a series of roundtable discussions called Ag-Celerate for Southeast Asia (SEA). The initiative brought together many industry stakeholders including Nafoods Group, a fruit and vegetable grower, processor, and exporter in Vietnam. Ag-Celerate for SEA proved to be an ideal platform to engage Nafoods and showcase Cropin solutions.

Aditya Shah, global director strategic partnerships at Cropin, says, “The AWS ISV Accelerate Program played a pivotal role in Cropin’s success in closing the deal with Nafoods, through collaborative marketing efforts that established Cropin as a thought leader in agriculture digitization.”

About AWS Partner Cropin

Established in 2010, Cropin is a global agricultural technology company that developed Cropin Cloud, a comprehensive and highly configurable farm management platform. The platform uses contextual deep-learning artificial intelligence models to help agriculture businesses with insights and predictive intelligence and offers a range of customizable apps and solutions designed to optimize agricultural efficiency, predictability, and sustainability.

Solution | Seeking Higher Visibility for Data-Driven Decisions

Prior to engaging Cropin, Nafoods relied purely on its employees—with little to no technological intervention—to manage its 1,900 hectares of farmland. The company was expanding, however, increasing exports abroad and recruiting new farming households in Vietnam. Its staff of 10 agronomists could not regularly visit every farmstead to inspect crops and growing conditions. Nafoods wanted to establish a control center on the cloud to synchronize farming data and improve visibility across field operations.

This solution came in the form of Cropin Grow (SmartFarm Plus), an enterprise farm management software as a service (SaaS) built on Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) and Amazon Relational Database Service (Amazon RDS). Cropin Grow helps customers digitize records, share advisories, monitor crops, and boost productivity among agronomists and other field officers. The SaaS also relies on Amazon Managed Workflows for Apache Airflow to schedule and monitor complex agricultural workflows, which enhances its overall efficiency and automation capabilities.
