Amazon Route 53

Amazon Route 53 Domains

Search, register, transfer, and manage domain names on AWS

Benefits

Search, register, and transfer domains  and manage domains renewals directly in your AWS account.

Choosefrom a variety of domain names across TLDs (such as .com, .org, .net) when registering your domain.

Enable WHOIS/RDAP privacy protection for supported TLDs to keep registrant contact details confidential, and use the DNSSEC configuration capabilities.

Use AWS Management console, APIs and CLI to manage registration, contacts, name servers, and renewals.

Features

Apply fine-grained AWS Identity Access and Management permissions to control who can register, transfer, or modify domains. Issue and manage TLS certificates with AWS Certificate Manager. Connect domains to Amazon CloudFront distributions through native AWS integrations.

Use Amazon Route 53’s globally available DNS service (standard DNS pricing applies) for your DNS management.

Auto‑renew is enabled by default; if a domain expires, it goes through all applicable grace and redemption periods as defined by the relevant TLD.

Mask contact information for most TLDs; availability and behavior vary by registry policy.

Add DS records to establish trust between the registry and your DNS provider for supported TLDs.

How it works

1. Search and select an available domain.

2. Enter required contact details and choose privacy protection if supported by the TLD.

3. Complete registration and other TLD‑specific steps.

4. Set auto‑renew and domain lock preferences.

5. Specify authoritative name servers.

6. Optionally configure DNSSEC by adding DS records for eligible TLDs.
