AWS ParallelCluster now supports Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA)

Posted on: Jun 11, 2019

Customers using AWS ParallelCluster to set up their High Performance Computing (HPC) clusters can now take advantage of Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA). AWS ParallelCluster helps you easily configure everything you need to run your application with EFA, including security group with ingress & egress rules, Open MPI, and Libfabric library.

EFA is a network device that accelerates High Performance Computing (HPC) applications using the Message Passing Interface (MPI). EFA brings the scalability, flexibility, and elasticity of cloud to tightly-coupled HPC applications. With EFA, tightly-coupled HPC applications have access to lower and more consistent latency and higher throughput than traditional TCP channels, enabling them to scale better. Learn more about EFA here.

This feature is only available for EFA compatible Linux distributions and instance types. You can view the list of requirements here.
