Overview
To help mid-market banks compete with larger financial institutions, Constantinople needed a scalable and secure way to deliver AI-driven banking operations without the complexity of fragmented legacy systems. Mid-market banks face the same regulatory requirements, fraud risks, and customer expectations as larger banks but lack the technology budgets and operational scale to modernize efficiently. Constantinople built an AI-native banking platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS) that combines customer experience, product, compliance, operations, and data capabilities within a unified environment. The platform performs more than 8,000 daily data quality checks and supports AI-powered automation workflows, including resolving 68 percent of customer chats without agent involvement.
About Constantinople
Constantinople provides an AI-native banking platform that helps mid-market banks modernize operations, automate banking workflows, and adopt AI-driven capabilities using cloud-native technologies.
Opportunity | Helping mid-market banks adopt AI and modernize operations
Small and medium-sized banks face many of the same regulatory requirements, customer expectations, and fraud risks as larger banks, but without the same scale or technology budgets to modernize efficiently. Many mid-market banks and credit unions also operate across fragmented legacy systems, increasing operational overhead and limiting their ability to adopt AI-driven capabilities and modern banking workflows.
“These banks compete against major institutions while operating under the same regulatory requirements, but without the same scale of technology investment,” says Felix Thummernicht, global head of expansion, Constantinople.
Constantinople saw an opportunity to help these financial institutions modernize banking operations and compete more effectively with larger banks. The company believed mid-market banks needed a simpler way to manage technology, operations, compliance, and customer experiences while keeping pace with evolving regulatory and customer expectations.
Solution | Building an AI-native banking platform on AWS
Constantinople built an AI-native banking platform to support banking functions across channels, products, data, operations, risk, compliance, fraud and financial crime, security, and regulatory reporting. Delivered as an AI-enabled managed service, the platform provides an integrated foundation that financial institutions can use to operate and scale their banking services.
“Software is something a bank buys, a platform is something a bank builds on. We designed Constantinople as a banking fabric that brings together the functions a bank runs on,” says Thummernicht.
To support this architecture, Constantinople chose AWS for its scalable, resilient, and secure cloud foundation. Using Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS), AWS Lambda, APIs, and other AWS services, the company built a containerized, event-driven architecture on an integrated, real-time data foundation that powers operational workflows, AI-enabled services, and specialized third-party banking solutions running on AWS.
"We built an entirely new platform," says Thummernicht. “AWS gives us the same resilience, scalability, and protection used by large global banks while allowing us to focus on the capabilities that differentiate our platform.”
AI-powered automation is embedded throughout the platform to streamline operational processes and support customer interactions. Using Amazon Bedrock, Constantinople develops AI-powered workflows that help financial institutions improve efficiency across banking operations. The company also designed its AI architecture to separate model training from customer banking data, allowing AI capabilities to evolve without using one institution's customer data to train models for another.
Rather than managing underlying technology infrastructure, banks can focus on customer experience, product innovation, pricing, risk management, and regulatory responsibilities, while Constantinople manages the day-to-day banking operations through its AI-enabled managed service.
Outcome | Automating 68% of customer chats for faster support
Constantinople's AI-native banking platform is helping financial institutions improve operational efficiency through AI-powered automation. Banks operating on the platform are seeing cost-to-income (CTI) reductions of 30–50 percent while automating operational workflows and customer interactions.
At Tyro, one of Constantinople’s partner banks, AI-powered customer service automation built on Constantinople’s platform now resolves 68 percent of customer chats without requiring agent involvement. Constantinople began deploying the capability in March 2026 and expects automation rates to improve further as it refines its models and expands the workflows they support.
Beyond customer support, the platform also automates operational processes that traditionally required significant manual effort. In lending workflows, AI-powered automation helps analyze customer-submitted documentation in near real time, reducing manual review requirements and accelerating banking operations. According to Thummernicht, some banking processes that would traditionally require teams of around 30 people can now be managed with as few as two.
These capabilities are supported by Constantinople’s integrated real-time data architecture, which performs more than 8,000 daily data quality checks to help maintain the integrity of data used across operational, compliance, and AI-driven processes.
AWS is also helping Constantinople scale its platform into new markets more efficiently. “Entering the UK is very easy for us because all we need to do is port over our platform from the AWS instance that we run across the AWS Melbourne and Sydney Region into the UK,” says Thummernicht.
Looking ahead, Constantinople plans to expand the use of Amazon Bedrock and other AWS services as it introduces additional AI-driven automation across banking operations and customer support.
AWS gives us the same resilience, scalability, and protection used by large global banks while allowing us to focus on the capabilities that differentiate our platform.
