Starting today, Amazon EC2 C5a, C5ad, M5a, M5ad, R5a, R5ad, and T3a instances are available in additional regions.

  • C5a instances are now available in AWS Europe (Paris), Africa (Cape Town), Europe (Milan), and Middle East (Bahrain) Regions.
  • C5ad instances are now available in AWS South America (Sao Paulo), US East (Ohio), Africa (Cape Town), Europe (Milan) and Middle East (Bahrain) Regions.
  • M5a, R5a and T3a instances are now available in AWS Europe (Milan) Region
  • 8xlarge and 16xlarge sizes of Amazon EC2 M5ad and R5ad instances are now available in US East (Ohio) and US West (Oregon) Regions.
These EC2 instances that are powered by AMD EPYC™ provide additional options for customers who are looking to achieve a 10% cost savings on their Amazon EC2 compute environment for a variety of workloads. Amazon EC2 C5a instances feature 2nd generation AMD EPYC™ 7002 series processors running at frequencies up to 3.3 GHz, and are variants of the Amazon EC2 compute optimized ( C5) family of instances. C5a instances are ideal for a broad set of compute-intensive workloads including batch processing, distributed analytics, data transformations, log analysis, gaming, and web applications. Amazon EC2 C5ad instances are equipped with local NVMe-based SSD block level storage physically connected to the host server. C5ad instances are ideal for applications that need temporary storage of data, such as batch and log processing and applications that need caches and scratch files. These instances are also a great fit for applications that need access to high-speed, low latency local storage, such as video encoding, image manipulation and other forms of media processing.
M5a, R5a and T3a instances are variants of Amazon EC2 general purpose ( M5), memory optimized ( R5) and burstable general-purpose ( T3) instance families. These instances feature AMD EPYC™ 7001 series processors running at frequencies up to 2.5 GHz. M5a and M5ad instances are ideal for business-critical applications, web and application servers, back-end servers for enterprise applications, gaming servers, caching fleets, data logging and app development environments. R5a and R5ad instances are ideal for high performance databases, distributed web scale in-memory caches, mid-size in-memory databases, real time big data analytics, and other enterprise applications. T3a instances offer a balance of compute, memory, and network resources for a broad spectrum of general purpose workloads including micro-services, low-latency interactive applications, small and medium databases, virtual desktops, development environments, code repositories, and business-critical applications.
With this regional expansion, C5a instances are now available across the AWS US East (N. Virginia, Ohio), US West (N. California, Oregon), Europe (Ireland, Frankfurt, Stockholm, London, Paris, Milan), Asia Pacific (Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, Sydney, Mumbai), Canada (Central), South America (Sao Paulo) Africa (Cape Town), both of the GovCloud (US), China (Ningxia), operated by NWCD, China (Beijing), operated by Sinnet, and Middle East (Bahrain) regions. C5a instances are available in 8 sizes, with 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 48, 64 or 96 vCPUs. These instances can be purchased as part of Savings Plans, On-Demand, as Reserved instances, or as Spot instances. C5a instances are available in 8 sizes, with 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 48, 64 and 96 vCPUs. In addition, C5ad instances are now available in the AWS US East (N. Virginia, Ohio), US West (Oregon), Europe (Ireland, Frankfurt, Milan), Asia Pacific (Singapore, Sydney), South America (Sao Paulo), Africa (Cape Town), and Middle East (Bahrain) Regions. C5ad instances are available in eight virtualized sizes with up to 96 vCPUs and provide up to 192 GiB of memory and up to 3.8 TB of NVMe based SSD instance storage on the largest size.
