Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) Proxy is now available in the Africa (Cape Town), Asia Pacific (Hong Kong), Asia Pacific (Osaka), EU (Milano), EU (Paris), EU (Stockholm), Middle East (Bahrain), and South America (Sao Paulo) AWS Regions.
RDS Proxy is a fully managed and a highly available database proxy for RDS and Amazon Aurora databases. RDS Proxy helps improve application scalability, resiliency, and security.
Many applications, including those built on modern serverless architectures, may need to have a high number of open connections to the database or may frequently open and close database connections, exhausting the database memory and compute resources. RDS Proxy allows applications to pool and share database connections, improving your database efficiency and application scalability. In the event of a failover, RDS Proxy can maintain and continue to accept connections from your application and reduce the failover times by up to 66%, improving availability for your RDS and Aurora databases. Finally, with RDS Proxy, your applications can enforce IAM authentication, eliminating the need to store database credentials in your application.
