Today, AWS announces media metrics for AWS Elemental MediaConvert, increasing the information available for transcoding events and associated media assets. Now you can view and act on a broader set of data both during and after transcoding jobs complete. You can use the information available through media metrics to build dashboards with Amazon CloudWatch and to programmatically integrate actions into your workflows via Amazon EventBridge.
Media metrics increases the flexibility of MediaConvert and simplifies the creation of observable and actionable pipelines through other AWS services or third-party orchestration platforms. With data available through media metrics, you can set usability thresholds based on source content attributes like black frame count, and monitor output characteristics such as resolution and video quality scores. By using Amazon CloudWatch and Amazon EventBridge in conjunction with media metrics, you can trigger a wider range of actions throughout transcoding workflows.
