Starting today, the AWS Application Discovery Service Agentless Collector supports the discovery of on-premises databases, allowing you to achieve more comprehensive data collection through the deployment of a single tool.
With the launch of the database and analytics capability, the Agentless Collector supports both server and database migration planning to AWS. You gain more options in discovering your instances - from inspecting previously discovered VMware virtual machines to using Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) - to detect databases in your environment. The database metadata and utilization metrics collected will then become available in AWS DMS Fleet Advisor, a service which provides recommendations for migrating self-managed Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL databases to AWS.
AWS Application Discovery service supports both agentless and agented collection methods to meet a wide range of migration needs. The database and analytics feature for agentless collection is generally available. For more information, see the AWS Region table.
