AWS Week in Review – July 15, 2013

Let’s take a quick look at what happened in AWS-land last week:

Monday, July 15	We released the Choosing a Cloud Platform page. This happened a few weeks ago but I forgot to mention it.
Tuesday, July 16	The AWS Security Blog published part 3 of a series on securing access to AWS using MFA.
Wednesday, July 17	We announced the new Elastic Beanstalk Console. We announced that registration for AWS re:Invent is now open. The AWS PHP Development Blog announced the new Amazon S3 Stream Wrapper. The AWS .Net Development Blog announced the new DynamoDB Trace Listener. The AWS Java Development Blog showed you how to inject failures and latency using the AWS SDK for Java. The AWS Ruby Development Blog talked about using client-side encrypytion with the AWS SDK for Ruby. The AWS Security Blog talked about encrypting data in S3.
Thursday, July 18	We announced that Amazon Redshift now supports UTF-8 characters in VARCHAR fields, along with sharing of snapshots with other AWS accounts. We announced the AWS Planning and Implementation guide for Microsoft Exchange Server.
Friday, July 19	I wrapped up a mini road trip through Southeast Asia with a talk in Manila. You can read about the AWS Road Trip and see lots of pictures. This week AWS Marketplace added new products including 9STAR, fileXhub, MetaVis, Neusoft, Reflection, BigML and SendGrid.
