Upcoming AWS Events

October and November are busy months for Amazon Web Services. Here is a round-up of some of the events that we will be hosting or participating in. We’d love to meet you if you are able to attend any of these!

If you are an IBM Regional Systems Integrator (or if you are interested in becoming one), there is a joint IBM/AWS executive-level seminar called “The Business of Cloud” in San Mateo, CA on Thursday, October 8 at the IBM Innovation Center. You’ll hear answers to questions such as “how secure is the cloud?” and “How can i adopt a cloud model for my existing solution?”. Join speakers from IBM & Amazon Web Services as we come together to focus on these questions and more as we outline what is Cloud computing and how IBM and Amazon Web Services will team together with you to drive new business. We’re also quite involved with Oracle Open World at Moscone Center in San Francisco. In addition to a booth in the exhibition hall, AWS will power 5 different Oracle Enterprise Manager Grid Control hands on labs, 2 Oracle Database Advanced Compression Labs, and 2 Oracle Data Guard Labs. In addition, Oracle and AWS have invited Recombinant to present with us in an Oracle OpenWorld session on October 14th from 10:15-11:15 PDT.

I’ll be at IBM’s Portal Excellence Conference in San Diego, which will run from October 12-15. There is another Portal Excellence Conference in Salzburg, Austria on October 26-28. Atilla Narin will represent AWS at that event.

On Oct 20 there will be a hands-on workshop presented by IBM in Stutgart, Germany, titled “Software as a Service: Getting started with IBM software on Amazon Web Services featuring WebSphere sMash & DB2”. You can register on IBM’s website.

And Amazon Web Services will host the following three events about Enterprise Computing:

• Oct. 15th in Los Angeles
  In this exclusive half-day event, featuring Amazon.com CTO Dr. Werner Vogels, learn how Amazon Web Services (AWS) offers enterprises a scalable, cost-effective, flexible, and secure cloud computing platform. The AWS on-demand resources combined with Amazon Virtual Private Cloud (Amazon VPC) allow you to use your choice of operating system and programming tools for moving your corporate applications into AWS, helping you spend less time procuring or managing IT resources and more time focusing on your business. I will also speak about architecture for the Cloud at this event.
• Oct. 19th in New York City
  This will be the same format as Los Angeles, except that Matt Tavis will speak about architecture. I can assure you that Matt is well worth listening to.
• Nov. 3rd, in London
  Once again this event will focus on the Enterprise. We’re holding it in Kings Cross, so it will be an easy commute for anyone who lives or works in (or near) London.
• On Nov 16 there will be another IBM & AWS event in New York City. Stay tuned for specifics; however it will be the same format as the Oct 8th event described above.
