AWS Contact Center
Free Sandbox Environments for Amazon Connect Customer on AWS Builder Center
Introduction
Amazon Connect Customer workshops are now available with free sandbox environments on AWS Builder Center. This means you can get hands-on experience building agentic AI solution that helps enterprises deliver exceptional customer experiences at every touchpoint with no AWS account required, no credit card needed, and no surprise bills. Whether you’re a developer exploring AI-powered customer experiences, an IT leader evaluating contact center solutions, or a builder curious about Amazon Connect Customer, sandbox environments let you dive right in.
Why This Matters
Amazon Connect Customer is a cloud contact center service that companies of all sizes use to deliver exceptional customer experiences. Until now, exploring Amazon Connect Customer through workshops required your own AWS account and a payment method — a barrier that stopped many builders before they even got started.
Since the workshops launched on Builder Center in November 2025, they have attracted over 167,000 page visits and 12,200+ builders as of August 2026 who reviewed a workshop, signaling clear intent to practice hands-on. But many of these builders never make it past account setup — they lack an AWS account, can’t provide a payment method, or abandon the process due to setup friction.
With free sandbox environments on Builder Center, that barrier is gone. You can now practice building contact flows, configuring agent routing and more — all in a real, pre-provisioned AWS environment.
How It Works
Getting started takes just a few clicks:
- Browse eligible workshops — Visit AWS Builder Center and filter for Amazon Connect Customer workshop with the sandbox badge.
- Request a sandbox — Choose Request free sandbox environment on the workshop card. No account creation or payment information required.
- Start building — Your pre-provisioned AWS environment is ready within 15 minutes. You get 8 hours of hands-on time.
- Automatic cleanup — When your session ends, the environment and all resources are automatically de-provisioned. No manual cleanup is needed.
Note: You can run one active sandbox at a time and request one per week (resets every Sunday).

What You Can Build
The Amazon Connect Customer sandbox workshops guide you through real-world scenarios, including:
- Setting up a contact center — Create an Amazon Connect Customer instance, claim a phone number, and configure hours of operation
- Building contact flows — Design Interactive Voice Response experiences with drag-and-drop flow blocks
- Adding AI-powered self-service — Integrate Amazon Lex chatbots for natural language interactions.
- Configuring routing — Set up queues, routing profiles, and agent assignments.
- Enabling analytics — Explore conversational analytics for real-time and post-call analytics
Each workshop is self-paced and designed to be completed without a facilitator, so you can learn on your own schedule.
Who Is This For?
- Builders and developers who want practical experience with Amazon Connect Customer without committing to an AWS account
- Solutions architects evaluating contact center architectures for their organization.
- Information Technology (IT) decision-makers who want to see Amazon Connect Customer in action before planning a deployment.
- Students and career changers building cloud skills with zero financial risk.
Secure by Design: Explore Without Worry
Sandbox environments run with sandbox-level permissions — enough access to complete the workshop successfully, while preventing actions that could compromise security or generate excessive cost. Every sandbox is:
- Time-limited — 8-hour session, then automatically de-provisioned.
- Isolated — Your sandbox is your own; it doesn’t affect other environments. Sandboxes have no connectivity to production AWS services or accounts.
- Cost-controlled — Reduced service limits keep costs within budget.
- Secure — All workshops pass security scanning before sandbox enablement.
- Ephemeral — All data created during your session is automatically deleted when the sandbox is de-provisioned.
