Ms. Heidi Buck is an award-winning intrapreneur, evangelist, and engineer with over 20 years of experience driving innovative research and development in the fields of computer vision and spatial computing. Currently the Senior Manager for Spatial Computing in the Prototyping and Cloud Engineering (PACE) group at Amazon Web Services (AWS), Ms. Buck joined AWS in 2022 to bring her extensive prototyping and industrial augmented reality background to cloud computing. Previously, as Founder and Director of the US Navy’s Battlespace Exploitation of Mixed Reality (BEMR) Lab, Ms. Buck spearheaded research into cutting-edge augmented and virtual reality technologies. Under her leadership, the lab hosted high-profile visits from the Secretary of Defense, Members of Congress, Fortune 500 CEOs, military leaders, and other dignitaries. Her pioneering work with the lab team earned two Secretary of the Navy Innovation Awards. Skilled at locating research funding and diversifying sponsorship, she brought in millions of dollars to fund anywhere from small one-person projects to full-scale multi-million dollar programs. Ms. Buck has an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from University of California, San Diego.
