Digital courses on Coursera and edX: Identity and Access Management (IAM), Internet of Things (IoT), and Data Lakes
Editor’s Note 20 January 2021: article updated to reflect newly available Introduction to Designing Data Lakes on AWS digital course, on Coursera and edX.
Are you looking to build foundational security knowledge? Maybe you’re ready to use Internet of Things (IoT) to connect systems together, lowering the cost of production and improving your customer experience. Perhaps you’re a system administrator or DevOps and need to design secure data lakes in your organization? We have three digital courses focused on cloud security, edge computing and data engineering/warehousing available on two of our AWS Digital Training Partners, Coursera and edX. AWS works with several Digital Training Providers to offer you flexibility to build your cloud skills on their online learning platforms.
Introduction to AWS Identity and Access Management
Security is “job zero” and one of the core tenets of building on AWS Cloud. As you build and deploy on AWS, granting developers and applications the right access to the right resources, at the right time, for the right actions, is critical to security. This course introduces you to AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM), one of the key services that helps you securely control access to your AWS resources. You’ll learn several different approaches to consider when addressing identity and access management, including users, groups, roles, and policies and applying best practices for securing your deployments and cloud assets. Whether you’re new to the AWS Cloud or an active AWS customer, if you’re looking to deepen your understanding of basic cloud security concepts, this class is for you. Enroll today on Coursera or edX.
AWS IoT: Developing and Deploying an Internet of Things
There are billions of devices in homes, factories, hospitals, cars, and myriad other places. With this proliferation of devices, what is the best way to connect them and collect, store, and analyze data from the devices? In this introductory course, expert instructors share an overview of the Internet of Things (IoT), IoT services, and dive deep into topics, such as the device gateway, device management, the device registry, and shadows. You’ll learn about security capabilities and implications, and core- and edge-computing capabilities and benefits. Lastly, the course covers the integration of IoT solutions with analytics tools, equipping you with the skills to analyze the collected data from your fleet of IoT devices. Enroll today on Coursera or edX.
Introduction to Designing Data Lakes on AWS
A data lake is a storage bank that holds structured or unstructured data from multiple sources in a raw format. Designing a data lake is challenging because of the scale and growth of data. In this course you will learn what a data lake is, how to ingest and organize data into the data lake, and how to process data at scale for optimal performance and cost savings. This course is designed for professionals (e.g., Architects, System Administrators, and DevOps) who need to design and build an architecture for secure and scalable data lake components. Students will learn about the contrasting use cases for a data lake and a traditional infrastructure of servers and storage. Enroll today on Coursera or edX.
