Amazon EC2 X8aedz instances

New memory-optimized instances powered by 5th Generation AMD EPYC processors

Why Amazon EC2 X8aedz instances?

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) X8aedz instances are the next generation memory-optimized instances powered by 5th Gen AMD EPYC processors. These instances offer the highest CPU frequency, 5GHz in the cloud.

X8aedz instances are ideal for electronic design automation (EDA) workloads such as physical layout and physical verification jobs, and relational databases that benefit from high single-threaded processor performance and a large memory footprint. The combination of 5 GHz processors and local NVMe storage enables faster processing of memory-intensive backend EDA workloads such as floor planning, logic placement, clock tree synthesis (CTS), routing, and power/signal integrity analysis.

Benefits

The X8aedz instances instances offer the highest CPU frequency, 5GHz in the cloud. They deliver up to 2x higher compute performance than previous generation X2iezn instances.

The X8aedz instances offer up to 31% better price-performance compared to previous generation instances. This improved efficiency helps optimize your operational costs while delivering better value for your cloud investment. Multiple purchasing options, including Savings Plans, On-Demand, and Spot instances, provide additional flexibility to manage costs. Better price performance enables you to reduce your fleet size or use smaller instance sizes to lower costs while improving performance.

Choose from eight sizes ranging from 2 to 96 vCPUs including two bare metal variants. Configure up to 3,072 GiB of memory with a 32:1 memory-to-vCPU ratio. Instance Bandwidth Configuration (IBC) feature enables boosting network or EBS bandwidth by up to 25% to match your specific workload requirements.

Features

Leverage 5th Generation AMD EPYC processors (formerly code named "Turin") with highest CPU frequency, 5GHz in the cloud. These instances enable faster processing of relational databases and electronic design automation (EDA) workloads such as physical verification, timing analysis, power sign-off, full chip gate level simulation, floor planning, logic placement, clock tree synthesis (CTS), routing, and power/signal integrity analysis.

X8aedz instances deliver EBS bandwidth of up to 60 Gbps and network bandwidth of up to 75 Gbps. To support your storage needs, you can configure up to 8 TB of local NVMe SSD storage for extensive scalability and enhanced I/O performance.

These instances support a new Instance Bandwidth Configuration (IBC) feature that offers flexibility in allocating resources between network and EBS bandwidth. This allows customers to scale network or EBS bandwidth by 25% and improve database performance, query processing, and logging speeds.

The AWS Nitro System is the foundation of our EC2 instances, enabling AWS to innovate faster, further reduce cost for our customers, and deliver added benefits like increased security and new instance types. These instances are built using the latest sixth generation AWS Nitro Cards, which offload and accelerate I/O for functions, increasing overall system performance.
