Vision Ireland Gives People with Sight Loss Access to Information Using Generative AI and AWS
Working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner Cation Consulting, Vision Ireland uses generative artificial (AI) to deliver information to people with sight loss through voice technology. The solution, which uses Amazon Alexa and Amazon Lex, provides a blueprint that other charities and non-governmental organizations can use to change people’s lives.
Overview
Vision Ireland is a not-for-profit organization that delivers services and support to 60,000 children and adults across the country. Working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner Cation Consulting and using Amazon Alexa and Amazon Lex , it launched a smart speaker project that harnesses generative artificial intelligence (AI). Access to information through the My NCBI SmartHub is helping to lessen isolation for those with sight loss and allowing parents to educate their children in a secure environment.

With Amazon Alexa and Amazon Lex, we use generative AI to help build language models, which gives us a really wide grasp of the possible questions a user may ask.
