Copy your data between on-premises object storage and AWS using AWS DataSync

Posted on: Jul 27, 2020

AWS DataSync now enables you to automate and accelerate online data transfers between on-premises object storage and Amazon S3, Amazon Elastic File System (EFS), or Amazon FSx for Windows File Server over the internet or AWS Direct Connect. With DataSync you can now easily and securely migrate, archive, or replicate on-premises datasets containing petabytes of data and billions of objects from on-premises to AWS.

Using the AWS Management Console, AWS Command Line Interface (CLI), or SDK, you can configure a DataSync task to copy from a bucket on your on-premises object store to AWS. When copying objects to Amazon S3, DataSync copies object data, and any metadata and tags from the on-premises store to your S3 bucket. DataSync automates online data transfers, including encryption, scheduling, monitoring, and data integrity validation. Support for on-premises object storage complements existing DataSync capabilities for transferring data between Network File System (NFS), Server Message Block (SMB) file servers, and AWS Storage services.

DataSync is available in 22 AWS Regions. You can learn more in the DataSync documentation, and log in to the AWS DataSync console to get started.
