Starting today, Amazon EC2 X1 and X1e instances are available in the AWS GovCloud (US-East) region.

Amazon EC2 X1 and X1e instances are part of the Amazon EC2 memory-optimized instance family and are designed for running large-scale and in-memory applications in the AWS Cloud. X1 instances offer up to 1,952 GiB of memory while X1e instances offer up to 3,904 GiB of memory. Both, X1 and X1e, instances are powered by four Intel® Xeon® E7 8880 v3 processors and offer up to 128 vCPUs. EC2 X1 and X1e instances are ideal for running in-memory databases, like SAP HANA, high-performance databases, big data processing engines like Apache Spark or Presto, and high-performance computing (HPC) applications.

The x1.16xlarge, x1.32xlarge, and x1e.32xlarge instances are certified by SAP to run production environments of the next-generation Business Suite S/4HANA, Business Suite on HANA (SoH), Business Warehouse on HANA (BW), and Data Mart Solutions on HANA on the AWS Cloud.
