Amazon EKS now supports Kubernetes version 1.13, ECR PrivateLink, and Kubernetes Pod Security Policies
Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) now supports Kubernetes version 1.13.7 for all clusters. Additionally, you can use ECR PrivateLink and Kubernetes PodSecurityPolicies with your EKS clusters.
Kubernetes is rapidly evolving, with frequent feature releases and bug fixes. Kubernetes version 1.13 allows you to use ECR PrivateLink to securely pull images to run your applications and allows you to enable the Kubernetes Pod Security Policies to validates pod creation and update requests against a set of rules. Additional version highlights include the beta launch of Kubernetes DryRun, TaintBasedEvictions, and Raw Block Volume support. A note on Kubernetes version 1.10 deprecation
Amazon EKS support mirrors the Kubernetes community by providing full support for the 3 most recent releases. Kubernetes 1.10, 1.11, 1.12, and 1.13 are all fully supported today, and new clusters can be started using any of these releases. However, it is important for each customer to consider moving forward to the most recent releases.
We recommend customers upgrade existing 1.10 or 1.11 clusters and worker nodes to 1.12 or 1.13 as soon as practical. Learn more about the EKS version lifecycle policies in the documentation.
