AWS WAF and AWS Shield Advanced Now Available in Africa (Cape Town) and EU (Milan)

Starting today, AWS WAF and AWS Shield Advanced are available in two new regions: Africa (Cape Town) and EU (Milan).

AWS WAF is a web application firewall that helps protect your web applications from common web exploits that could affect application availability, compromise security, or consume excessive resources. AWS WAF gives you control over which traffic to allow or block to your web applications by defining customizable web security rules. AWS Shield Advanced is a managed Application Security service that safeguards web applications running on AWS from threats like Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS). AWS Shield Advanced provides always-on detection and automatic inline mitigations that minimize application downtime and latency, so there is no need to engage AWS Support to benefit from DDoS protection. AWS WAF and AWS Shield Advanced are now available on Amazon CloudFront and 20 AWS regions: US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), US West (N. California), EU (Ireland), EU (Frankfurt), EU (London), EU (Stockholm), EU (Paris), EU (Milan), Africa (Cape Town), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Singapore), Asia Pacific (Mumbai), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Hong Kong), South America (Sao Paulo), Middle East (Bahrain), and Canada (Central). AWS Shield Advanced is also available on Amazon Route 53.
