Beginning the AI Journey with a Modern AI Platform on AWS
Apotea serves millions of customers each year, offering over 50,000 products online. As the company scaled, it needed a modern data and AI infrastructure to centralize and analyze large volumes of data. This foundation would facilitate the rapid experimentation and deployment of AI-powered use cases, reduce the time to market for new AI and machine learning products, and help Apotea attract and retain top-tier technical talent.
Apotea selected AWS for its depth of services, scalability, and proven ability to support innovative AI initiatives. Using AWS, Apotea gained the tools and flexibility to securely build and scale advanced applications, all while reducing operational overhead.
Bringing Three AI Use Cases into Production in 3 Months
Apotea developed a modern, cloud-based data and AI platform on AWS. Using this architecture, Apotea’s Data and AI team can quickly move from prototyping new features to deploying models in production with minimal friction. This platform was built using a suite of AWS services, including Amazon SageMaker—which delivers an integrated experience for analytics and AI with unified access to all data—and AWS Lambda, a service used to run code without thinking about servers or clusters.
Using AWS, Apotea accelerated the development and deployment of several AI use cases, bringing three of them into production within 3 months. One key initiative was the implementation of an AI-powered product recommendation engine using Amazon Bedrock, the simplest way to build and scale generative AI applications with foundation models. This solution has contributed to a more seamless shopping experience by helping customers find relevant products faster. Since deployment, Apotea’s conversion rate for product recommendations has increased by over 600 percent.
