IDENTT builds a scalable, secure, AI-powered identity verification solution on AWS

IDENTT provides solutions that protect identities against fraud and theft for customers across 16 countries. It facilitates secure digital experiences worldwide, supporting age verification, identity proofing, and Know Your Customer processes. IDENTT helps organizations, from banks to state offices, perform fraud detection and document analysis using biometric identity verification.

After outgrowing on-premises GPUs, IDENTT chose AWS for dependable GPU capacity, elastic scale, global reach, and expert support.

With customers around the world, IDENTT can manage permissions, meet data residency requirements, and support document versioning using AWS to comply with regional regulations. IDENTT’s cloud proofing service is ISO/IEC 27001 certified and operates according to General Data Protection Regulation principles. “It would take a long time to develop a solution that could meet all the requirements for compliance and handling sensitive data,” says Piotr Giedziun, chief technology officer and cofounder of IDENTT. “Using AWS, we have access to an off-the-shelf product that gives us that functionality.”

Using Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS)—a fully managed Kubernetes service for starting, running, and scaling Kubernetes without thinking about cluster management—IDENTT runs containerized microservices with automatic scaling. The company can secure the Kubernetes control plane and access on-demand GPU capacity as needed. During peak traffic or new model training, IDENTT scales up automatically without overprovisioning. The company meets these temporary demands using performant, cost-effective GPUs from AWS, achieving up to 60 percent GPU cost savings compared to on-demand GPUs versus on-site infrastructure, since it scales up only when training or inference demand peaks.

Because of the global presence of AWS, IDENTT can deploy to new AWS Regions in minutes, reducing onboarding time for new customers. “We can build it once and easily scale to provide the same service to other countries,” says Giedziun.

As fraud tactics evolve, IDENTT’s pipelines on AWS for machine learning operations as well as continuous integration and delivery cut iteration cycles from weeks to hours. “Using AWS, we can quickly build solutions that detect previously unseen events and also retrain models for new domains so we can prevent fraud with high accuracy,” says Giedziun.

IDENTT plans to continue evolving to meet new standards, such as presentation attack detection and support for the European Union Digital Identity Wallet use cases. It is also exploring the possibility of offering its solutions on AWS Marketplace, where organizations can discover, deploy, and manage solutions for the cloud. “AWS helps us lower costs, accelerate verification, and simplify compliance as we scale,” says Giedziun.
