Canva helps the world design the future with data-driven insights using AWS

In this video, Fawaz Ahmed, Canva’s director of engineering, talks about how data drives the business. Each week, the design platform handles around 100 billion events and 400 TB of data. Canva uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) solutions to help it manage and scale its data infrastructure. With more than 100 million monthly active users who have created billions of designs, Canva handles massive amounts of data. In fact, it stores more than 230 petabytes of data in Amazon S3. Being able to use different storage classes designed for varying access patterns and workloads is critical for the company to operate cost-effectively at scale. By migrating around 130 petabytes of infrequently accessed user data to Amazon S3 Glacier Instant Retrieval, Canva is saving more than $3 million a year.
