Businesses around the world need to manage contracts efficiently while complying with regional security regulations. Software company Sanmarco Informatica developed a secure, cloud-native electronic signature solution that uses generative artificial intelligence (AI) to simplify this process. By using Amazon Web Services (AWS), Firmae helps companies review contracts in multiple languages and sign new business faster, saving companies time and money.
About Sanmarco Infomatica
Founded in 1984, Sanmarco Informatica provides software and consulting to streamline processes and improve security. It built Firmae to simplify processing and signing contracts with a chatbot and multilingual support.
Opportunity | Using Amazon Bedrock to Build a Generative AI–Powered Digital Signature Solution
Sanmarco Informatica is an Italian company that specializes in implementing systems to support the reorganization of businesses and professional practices. The company knows the importance of processing and signing contracts quickly and securely, and it built Firmae to automate document analysis, support contracts in different languages, and provide chatbot support.
The company decided to use cloud-native, fully managed services on AWS so that its developers could focus on building features. Although similar solutions took more than a year to develop in the past, the company created its scalable cloud infrastructure in 3 months. “We had support from the AWS solutions architect,” says Luca Sarra, enterprise architect at Sanmarco Informatica. “We wanted to develop the solution as quickly as possible and in a way that was compliant with all security standards.”
Then, based on market demand, Sanmarco Informatica began building generative AI features using Amazon Bedrock, a fully managed service that offers a broad set of capabilities for building generative AI applications.
Solution | Helping Customers Reduce Contract Management Costs Using Firmae
Sanmarco Informatica benchmarked several AI models and chose Anthropic’s Claude 3.5 Sonnet for its response speed and accuracy. Using Amazon Bedrock, it built a fast, accurate chatbot and document translation features in 15 days. “The user can ask the chatbot what’s inside a document before they sign it,” says Elisa Barbieri, product owner at Sanmarco Informatica. “The chatbot can reply in different languages as well, so we can give any information that the user wants.”
Sanmarco Informatica is maintaining strong security by encrypting data at rest and in transit and segregating data. It is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation and electronic identification, authentication, and trust services in the European Union. The company securely stores its credentials in AWS Secrets Manager, a service for managing access to applications, services, and IT resources. And it provides secure access to its web application using Amazon CloudFront, which securely delivers content with low latency and high transfer speeds.
Now, the contract signing process is faster and smoother than ever. Sanmarco Informatica has signed 40 percent more contracts with suppliers and 333 percent more contracts with customers. The company has also reduced costs. In one example, a customer saved 4,000 euros by using Firmae. “Now, we’ve made our solution scalable for each customer in the cloud,” says Luca Sarra. And it is promoting sustainability by using digital contracts instead of paper.
Outcome | Further Accelerating Development Using AWS
Sanmarco Informatica plans to further enhance development speed by adopting more AWS technology. “The ease with which we implement and use Amazon Bedrock is a major benefit,” says Luca Sarra. “And because AWS services have built-in security, it is simple to secure and localize data in compliance with regulations.”
