Overview
Tetsuyu Healthcare (Tetsuyu), a Singapore-based HealthTech startup, specializes in innovative and affordable applications for the Intermediate and Long-Term Care sector. Managing over 20,000 patients and 2,000 clinical users across Singapore, Hong Kong, and Australia, the company encountered limitations with its previous cloud infrastructure setup, which impacted scalability, availability, and data residency compliance.
To address these challenges and support growing user demand, Tetsuyu migrated its CARES (a care management platform) and CARE4WOUNDS (a wound care imaging and management system) platform to Amazon Web Services (AWS) in 2023. This migration enhanced scalability and availability, improved security, and optimized costs, effectively meeting the needs of its expanding user base.

Opportunity | Addressing Scalability to Enhance Care Outcomes
Care providers face a demanding stream of activities daily—from onboarding new patients to conducting assessments, care planning and delivery, communicating with stakeholders, and monitoring progress.
To support care teams in delivering a higher standard of care, Tetsuyu designed the CARES management platform. This platform automates, standardizes, and centralizes all case and clinical documentation across different community care settings. It helps care teams reduce paperwork, minimize human error, improve communication, increase productivity, and foster better care outcomes.
The company also developed CARE4WOUNDS, an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered application for wound care imaging, assessment, and early intervention. Users can seamlessly upload videos and images for proactive wound monitoring.
However, the pre-existing cloud setup presented significant challenges for Tetsuyu. The lack of self-service tools hindered the company's agility and ability to operate efficiently on a global scale. As user subscriptions grew, so did the demand for compute resources, necessitating manual scaling each month. Additionally, as Tetsuyu looked to expand into other geographies, complying with data residency regulations became crucial.
Tetsuyu turned to AWS for a scalable infrastructure to swiftly respond to growing user demands. With AWS, Tetsuyu gained global reach and powerful self-service capabilities, empowering the company to focus on their mission of developing innovative healthcare technology solutions. This shift enabled Tetsuyu to efficiently scale their infrastructure, comply with international regulations, and overcome the limitations of their previous setup.

AWS has empowered us to focus on what truly matters – patient care, revolutionizing value-based healthcare delivery and expanding into new markets. This transformation equips healthcare providers with tools that enhance community care, combining cutting-edge technology with deep user insights. The result is greater dignity and comfort for patients, driving meaningful change in healthcare delivery.”

Solution | Scaling Operations and Optimizing Costs through AWS
In 2023, Tetsuyu migrated the CARES platform and CARE4WOUNDS system to AWS, completing the process within six months. Conducted in stages to ensure stability and minimize risks, the AWS team provided significant support in planning, pilot testing, and foundational framework building.
With the migration, the company now has the flexibility to scale its platforms dynamically based on customer demands and comply with stringent data security and residency requirements. As a result, user subscriptions increased by 30 percent.
Tetsuyu utilizes Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) for a secure, reliable, high-performance, and cost-effective compute infrastructure, which facilitates dynamic scaling and optimized platform performance. AWS worked closely with Tetsuyu to optimize their cloud infrastructure for cost-effectiveness, reducing the need for large hardware investments and operational costs, resulting in significant annual cost efficiencies.
For database management, the company deploys Amazon RDS for SQL Server, making it easy to set up, operate, and scale SQL Server deployments in the cloud. Tetsuyu can now create a storage volume snapshot of an instance, backing up the entire instance and not just individual databases. With this, the company is able to set up, operate, and scale databases for structured data such as medical records, as well as ensuring they have automated backups of its databases at all times.
To meet data storage needs, the company uses Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), an object storage service offering industry-leading scalability, data availability, security, and performance. Users can now quickly upload videos and images to the CARES4WOUNDS system. As a fully managed service, Amazon S3 automatically provisions additional storage requirements, providing smooth and efficient data management.
Outcome | Transforming Healthcare with Generative AI and Global Expansion
Looking ahead, Tetsuyu plans to incorporate generative AI into the CARES platform to automate documentation during doctor visits, allowing caregivers to focus more on patients and enhance the quality of interactions.
The company also aims to expand into global markets, including Hong Kong, Australia and Brazil. Additionally, Tetsuyu plans to list its applications on the AWS Marketplace to provide broader access and potential commercialization.
“AWS has empowered us to focus on what truly matters – patient care, revolutionizing value-based healthcare delivery and expanding into new markets. This transformation equips healthcare providers with tools that enhance community care, combining cutting-edge technology with deep user insights. The result is greater dignity and comfort for patients, driving meaningful change in healthcare delivery,” said Ng Li Lian, Co-Founder and Managing Director at Tetsuyu Healthcare.

Improvement-IT Uses TechNative to Migrate…
Improvement-IT, based in the Netherlands, provides IoT solutions to a variety of organizations with an emphasis on tracking, tracing, and monitoring the status of assets. Together with its other companies Port Pay and Alltrack Medical, it offers these innovative solutions to help customers track assets in the field, manage warehouses, and optimize supply chains. However, it was being hampered by its own managed services provider, which was running both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and on-premises assets for it. It wanted a proactive partner with deep expertise to help optimize its systems, improve client onboarding times, and better detect problems before they affected customers. AWS Partner TechNative has helped it to achieve those goals, reducing customer support calls by 15 percent and cutting onboarding time by 50 percent.
