VMware NSX on AWS

Implement consistent networking and security for apps running natively on AWS

Gain consistent, dynamic networking and security for your applications running natively on Amazon Web Services (AWS) with VMware NSX on AWS. Manage applications in your hybrid cloud environment through a single interface, while continuing to use AWS infrastructure and application services without limitation. With NSX on AWS, the same control and data plane as VMware NSX Data Center are used to define networking and security policy for AWS-native applications in a hybrid cloud environment. NSX on AWS provides standard interfaces and protocols to access network and security data from AWS, shortening the time it takes for your enterprise to identify and resolve network connectivity, performance, and security issues across your entire environment.

This solution is supported by optional consulting offers crafted by AWS Partner Network (APN) Competency Partners.

    Solution highlights:

    • Increase efficiency: Shorten the time it takes to identify and resolve network connectivity, performance, and security issues within your private data center and public cloud infrastructure
    • Better control: Leverage micro-segmentation over east-west traffic between application workloads for end-to-end policy control
    • Improve application health: Automatically quarantine compromised workloads if they do not have the right micro-segmentation security policy applied
    • Reduce costs: Lower TCO with the ability to automate provisioning and configuration management
    Introduction to VMware NSX

    Key features:

    • Micro-Segmentation: NSX on AWS provides control over east-west traffic between application workloads running natively on AWS
    • Dynamic Policy: Security policy is automatically applied and enforced based on factors such as instance attributes and user-defined tags
    • Quarantine Instances: Quarantine rogue and compromised workloads that are running on the cloud without micro-segmentation security
    • Distributed Architecture: Reduce additional network hops and traffic with distributed firewalling architecture
    • Templating: Use existing automation and orchestration tools to create standardized application templates simplifying provisioning and management of networking and security services

To get started, deploy the Cloud Service Manager appliance in the data center and configure it using access and secret keys generated in your AWS account. Then, you will have visibility into the VPCs and applications in your cloud account. To add networking and security policy controls, the you can then deploy the Public Cloud Gateway to your VPC(s) and add the NSX Cloud agent to machines running in the network.
