Learning

Whether you are new to the cloud or an experienced user, you will learn something new at the AWS Public Sector Summit. This complimentary event is designed to educate you about the AWS platform and help you develop the skills to design, deploy, and operate infrastructure and applications. Take advantage of the many opportunities to learn about AWS services and solutions in multiple formats, including breakout sessions, workshops, demos, and chalk talks. All sessions will be delivered by subject matter experts from AWS, our partners, or our customers who will share case studies and lessons learned.

Training and Certification

Bootcamps

Bootcamps are full and half-day training sessions delivered by experienced AWS Instructors and Solutions Architects. They are an opportunity to dive deep into existing skills and learn new ways of working with AWS. These sessions are offered for a fee on June 10, the day before the summit.

Hands-On Labs

Hands-On Labs help you evaluate and learn how to work with AWS solutions through step-by-step, self-paced instructions on an AWS Console in a live practice environment. Choose from 100+ lab topics that range in level from introductory to expert and take approximately 30 to 60 minutes to complete. Registration is not required; walk-ups are welcome.

AWS Certification Lounge

Visit the AWS Certification Lounge in the Expo to network with other certified individuals. AWS Certified status will be checked at the entrance.

Breakout Content

Sessions

Attend one-hour breakout sessions led by AWS subject-matter experts and/or AWS customers. You’ll find introductory sessions, deep dive technical content, and customer stories.

Workshops

Learn in a team-oriented, hands-on environment. Solve problems and build solutions in these two hour-long workshops. They are capped at about 60 attendees to maximize networking and learning opportunities.

Chalk Talks

Chalk Talks are short presentations designed to stimulate conversation, followed by an interactive whiteboarding session. The goal is to foster a technical discussion around real-world architecture challenges. It’s a great opportunity to ask an AWS expert your questions.

Activities

At the AWS Public Sector Summit you will get to know the AWS team and interact with AWS Partners - it's also a perfect opportunity to chat with peers and other tech enthusiasts about their challenges and learnings.

AWS DeepRacer League

Join us at the AWS Public Sector Summit in Washington, DC, where we will help you build and train a model at a workshop, or you can bring one you have trained at home. You can then put your model to the test and compete on the track in the AWS Summit Expo. Learn more here.

AWS Community Dev Lounge

Join us in the Dev Lounge for content “by the community, for the community.” Learn from and network with your peers, AWS Heroes, AWS User Groups, and other members of the AWS community. All content in the Dev lounge is community-led and the Ask the Experts Bar will be staffed by our user group leaders. This is an opportunity to dive deep with others using AWS just like you.

Hackathon for Good | 8:00am - 11:00pm (Pre-Day)

Join us on June 10th for the 2nd annual Hackathon for Good. Choose from one of four challenges from our public sector customers including nonprofit, education, government, or startups. Hackers will have just 14 hours to build a solution to the challenge and present to the judges. Judges will review solutions and prizes will be given to the top teams. Throughout the day, Solutions Architects will hold 60 minute labs to learn a new skill that can immediately be implemented in your solutions. Register here.

AWS Builders Fair

Join us for eight live demonstrations that highlight how AWS spurs innovation. Demonstrations highlight faster response times for public safety, enhanced learning for students, and environmental friendly solutions for cleaner neighborhoods. The range of technology on display includes analytics, virtual reality, serverless computing, Amazon Connect, and AI and machine learning. Meet the builders, view their solutions, and ask questions about the development process behind their innovation. Featured in the Expo Hall.

Networking Reception

After a productive day of learning, be sure to join the reception, which follows the last sessions of the day. At the AWS Networking Reception, you can connect with leading cloud technology providers and consultants who can help you get the most out of the AWS Cloud, participate in a variety of activities, and get your questions answered by AWS engineers and product leaders.
