AWS Skills Center Seattle is a free training center for anyone in the Seattle community who is curious about cloud computing and future job possibilities in the cloud. The center is designed to help people with little to no technology background.
Access fun and engaging cloud skills training and interactive exhibits, as well as career networking and job placement events with local employers and organizations—all for free.

Fundamental | 4 hours

In this course, you will learn basic computer and networking concepts. It is designed for those that do not have existing computer technology skills. This course teaches what is required for computers and networks to work and includes hands-on knowledge of computer hardware components.

In this three-part series, you will learn concepts that will help you prepare for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam. In part one, you will learn about the basics of the AWS Cloud, AWS global infrastructure, Amazon EC2, and other services.
This series should be taken in order and is designed for those that do not have existing computer technology skills.

In this three-part series, you will learn concepts that will help you prepare for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam. In part two, you will learn about networking in the AWS Cloud. You will also learn about storage, database, and security services.
This series should be taken in order and is designed for those that do not have existing computer technology skills.

In this three-part series, you will learn concepts that will help you prepare for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam. In part three, you will build upon the first two courses and also learn about monitoring the AWS Cloud using several services, how AWS services are billed, tools to help you control costs, and methods for migrating your existing infrastructure into the AWS Cloud.
This series should be taken in order and is designed for those that do not have existing computer technology skills.

In this course, you will learn how the exam is structured, including question formats, content domains, and the breakdown of questions across those domains. You will also learn techniques to help you understand what an exam question is asking for, what the responses mean, and how to eliminate inaccurate responses. During the course, you will have the chance to apply knowledge and test concepts through a series of practice exam questions.

In this course, business leaders learn the fundamental concepts of cloud computing and how a cloud strategy can help them meet their organizations critical business objectives. The course explores the key advantages of cloud computing while reviewing topics such as security and compliance to facilitate discussions with other business and technology leaders.

In this class, you’ll learn about the typical entry-level job roles in the Cloud. You will be introduced to the concept of physical networks and cloud-based services and how job roles can overlap these two solutions. You'll also learn about specific competencies, qualifications, and possible certifications that align to each of these roles.

In this class you will learn to identify the next steps in your career journey. You will also learn to identify your goals in a cloud career and how to identify the training you would need to achieve your goals.

In this class, you’ll learn about the advantages of getting AWS Certified. You’ll also learn about the various certifications offered by AWS and what is available to help you pass these certifications.

In this classroom lab session, you will have the opportunity to work through each of the lab demonstrations that are offered in the 3 part Becoming a Cloud Practitioner course.

Explore how machine learning powers DeepRacer, a fully autonomous 1/18th scale race car that continuously adapts to improve its performance through its own learned behavior. This fully immersive simulator demonstrates cloud-based machine learning in action.

What is AWS Skills Center Seattle?

What should I expect to learn?

These are critical steps to set learners up as future builders and cloud employees.

How many people can the AWS Skills Center accommodate?
The Cloud Discovery Space holds up to 140 learners at full occupancy.

Who can visit? Do I need to purchase tickets/passes?
Anyone can visit, and all offerings are free of charge. You do not need to register if your group has no more than 20 people. All visitors must sign in at the reception area prior to entering our Cloud Discovery Space, and anyone enrolling in a course must register with our learning management system. Children 14-17 can sign in at the Cloud Discovery Space as guests. All children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

My group has more than 20 people—how do I register?
Groups with more than 20 people are required to pre-register with our reception team. If you want to schedule a group class, email aws-skills-center-seattle@amazon.com.

Do courses require registration?
Yes, all AWS Skills Center courses require registration. Signing up in advance for your course helps secure your spot, and courses are filled on a first come basis. You can register online or during your visit.

Is the AWS Skills Center accessible for visitors with disabilities?
The AWS Skills Center follows accessibility best practices. All exhibits have closed captioning. All areas (Cloud Discovery Space exhibits, classrooms, restrooms) are wheelchair accessible and have seating throughout. Yes, but only for individuals enrolled in classes. Storage areas are in the classrooms.

Yes, photos and videos are allowed within the Cloud Discovery Space but not within classroom settings.

Visitors experiencing flu-like symptoms or that have been in recent contact with a sick person should not visit AWS Skills Center Seattle.

AWS Skills Center Seattle follows Amazon official guidelines for frequent cleaning and disinfecting.

Yes, all occupants of the building must wear a mask at all times (regardless of vaccination status).
