PostgreSQL 10 now Supported in Amazon RDS for AWS GovCloud (US)
Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL now supports PostgreSQL major version 10 in the AWS GovCloud (US) region. PostgreSQL 10 includes various new features including native table partitioning, support for improved parallelism in query execution, ICU collation support, column group statistics, enhanced postgres_fdw extension, and many more. Additionally, this release includes an upgraded version of the PLV8 extension and will have huge pages enabled by default.
As of version 10, PostgreSQL no longer uses three-part version numbers, and is shifting to two-part version numbers. This release includes all patches from the PostgreSQL 10.1 minor version. It also includes all extensions that are supported in Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL 9.6 release, and supports major version upgrades from PostgreSQL 9.6 to PostgreSQL 10. The tsearch2 extension is supported at this time, but will be deprecated in a future release; we therefore strongly encourage customers to migrate to the equivalent functionality which now exists in the core database engine.
To use the new versions, you can create an Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL database instance with just a few clicks in the AWS Management Console, or upgrade an existing instance using point-and-click upgrades.
