You can now use Amazon MQ to build HIPAA-compliant applications, and store and transmit messages between healthcare systems, including messages containing protected health information (PHI).
Amazon MQ is a managed message broker service for Apache ActiveMQ that makes it easy to set up and operate message brokers in the cloud. Amazon MQ supports industry-standard APIs and protocols for messaging, including JMS, NMS, AMQP, STOMP, MQTT, and WebSocket, making it easy to migrate messaging to the cloud while preserving the existing connections between your applications.
HIPAA Eligibility applies to all AWS Regions where Amazon MQ is available. See the Architecting for HIPAA Security and Compliance on Amazon Web Services Whitepaper for information and best practices about how to configure AWS HIPAA Eligible Services to store, process, and transmit protected health information (PHI). Please see the HIPAA Eligible Services page for a complete list AWS services that have met HIPAA compliance standards.
