Automat-it, an AWS Premier Tier Services partner with regional offices across EMEA, has experienced a remarkable transformation by evolving from its DevOps roots into a dynamic Managed Services Provider (MSP) which is creating innovative technology solutions. AWS Partner Network (APN) offers various programs, resources, funding, and strategic guidance to help partners grow and enhance profitability: a prime example is the AWS Partner Profitability Framework which guides partners to expand their capabilities, develop new solutions, and drive higher margins by evolving their business models towards more value added services. Deeper AWS engagement and expanded service offerings lead to increased revenue generation and profitability – as per the Canalys Partner Ecosystem Multiplier Report, partners can achieve up to a $6.40 multiplier per $1 of AWS sold, by delivering a full stack of professional services and diverse offerings, with managed services generating 30-40% gross profit margins. In addition, the AWS SCA framework is anchored in strategic, multi-year, outcome-driven business plans supported by comprehensive partner development resources, strategic advisory, investments, collaborative solution development, and go-to-market support. The APN programs, combined with SCAs and AWS Partner Profitability Framework, facilitate partners’ progression up the value chain and profitability ladder from basic reselling towards delivering high-value business outcome solutions. Each stage of the partner profitability journey augments the previous stage, as customers prefer collaborating with a partner that continually expands its capabilities and solutions portfolio.
In this blog, we outline how partners can scale themselves, enhance their capabilities, increase their profitability, and move up the value chain by analyzing Automat-it’s successful transformation. During 2023–2024, the AWS SCA became the catalyst for Automat-it to successfully scale its startup-focused solutions to six new EMEA markets. This strategic expansion has resulted in a significant increase in Automat-it’s customer base as it is now serving 700+ customers across these regions, including notable startups such as Lovable – recognized by Forbes as the fastest growing software startup in history. This remarkable growth has been driven by strategic support from AWS combined with Automat-it’s focus and specialized expertise in serving startups – a customer segment known for its innovation, agility requirements and resource optimization needs. Automat-it’s expertise and offerings augmented with its own startup-like operating model have established it as the preferred partner for early-stage and fast-scaling startups. And AWS SCA has provided dedicated resources, strategic investments and support to Automat-it for increasing and upskilling its workforce, joint Go-to-market, co-sell support and building comprehensive capabilities spanning DevOps, FinOps, migrations, GenAI, machine learning, and serverless computing. During this journey, Automat-it has developed five new customer solutions, expanded its workforce by 96%, secured 250+ new AWS certifications and attained three additional AWS competencies which lead to a 265% increase in its customer base, a 300% increase in its revenue while improving its profit margins. Automat-it now pioneers several innovative technology solutions including MLOps Accelerator, RAG Accelerator, Amazon Bedrock Migration Accelerator, AI Implementation Optimization and AWS Marketplace Accelerator. And to further strengthen its solutions portfolio, Automat-it is now developing additional innovative and business outcome focused solutions such as “Landing Zone and EKS environment for FinOps”, “Framework for AI model development and Agentic Workloads”, and “Scalable GenAI Training and Inference Platform”. The AWS SCA has thus catalyzed Automat-it’s ascension within the AWS Partner Profitability Framework by enabling it’s transformation from a DevOps focused company into a comprehensive Managed Services Provider, delivering sophisticated solutions that address complex customer challenges, while generating additional revenue streams and improved margins.

- Plan your growth journey by evaluating your current stature and where you want to be in the next 1 – 3 years. Identify your compelling differentiators, proficiencies, and delivery capabilities and then determine the areas of growth and the strategy to accomplish that.
- Without developing value added services or intellectual property, partners risk stagnation and limited profitability, hence do not rely solely on reselling, as this might yield lower margins and limited customer impact.
- Diversify your solution offerings and build a roadmap to develop your capabilities and service offerings towards higher customer value, with the aim to develop a full stack of professional services including advisory, design, procurement, building, adopting, and managing the cloud, in order to increase customer retention by solving their challenges.
- Invest in building specialized expertise and achieving AWS competencies to differentiate in the market and focus on high-growth areas like DevOps, FinOps, GenAI, Agentic AI, Modernization, Data Sovereignty and Cloud-native services.
- Leverage various APN programs like Innovation Sandbox, Proof of Concept, Marketing Development Funds, Co-sell support, SCAs, AWS Competency programs and Marketplace programs to build, market, and scale solutions to accelerate your growth.
- Create proprietary technology solutions and business outcome-focused offerings to move up the value chain and increase customer retention which results in higher revenue and profit margins.
