AWS Week in Review – April 29, 2013

Let’s take a quick look at what happened in AWS-land last week:

Monday, April 29	We announced the new AWS Security Blog. The first post begins a series on Securing Access to AWS using MFA (Multi-Factor Authentication).
Tuesday, April 30	We announced the AWS Global Certification Program. The AWS Java Blog published the first part of a series of posts on Eclipse Deployment of AWS Java Applications using AWS Elastic Beanstalk.
Wednesday, May 1	We announced a new CloudFront / Route 53 edge location in Seoul, Korea. The AWS Mobile Blog published the second part of a series of posts on the S3 TransferManager for iOS, with a focus on Best Practices for Asynchronous Uploads.
Thursday, May 2	We announced the AWS Support API, with the power to create and inspect AWS Support cases and to review and refresh Trusted Advisor recommendations. We released version 2.3 of the AWS Toolkit for Eclipse. We added nine AWS customer case studies: AEG, D-Link, EyeEm, LogMyCalls, Neowiz, Zedo, Bristol-Myers Squibb, GE, and NASDAQ OMX.
Friday, May 3	We announced that Amazon Elastic MapReduce now supports Amazon S3’s Server Side Encryption feature along with an updated Elastic MapReduce Developer Guide. We published Andy Jassy’s Keynote Video from the AWS Summit in San Francisco, along with some of the Presentations from the Breakout Sessions. I launched the AWS Road Trip Blog to document my cross-country speaking tour.
Saturday, May 4	A SlideShare presentation on Understanding Elastic Block Store Availability and Performance enjoyed a burst of popularity over the weekend.
