Insys creates virtual cinema for arthouse association

Poland’s arthouse cinemas were facing an unprecedented challenge, unable to welcome visitors and at risk of losing their entire income stream. Not to be deterred, the Arthouse Cinemas Association, tasked with representing the interests of 230 traditional private and local cinemas across the country, looked to video-on-demand (VOD) to keep those cinemas going and fans engaged.

Insys Video Technologies was able to implement a customized solution using its white-label platform, Insys VOD. Because it’s based in an AWS Cloud environment, the solution could be rolled out in a very short timeframe, and is easy to scale up ahead of movie releases, when viewership is likely to spike.

The result is MOJEeKINO.pl, a VOD platform connecting more than 40 arthouse cinemas to bring the cinema to viewers’ homes across Poland. Consumers can purchase from a selection of movies, with the proceeds going to the cinema hosting that film.

Marlena Gabryszewska, CEO, the Arthouse Cinemas Association, commented: “We are glad that we were able to implement such an interesting project and that thanks to the MOJEeKINO.pl platform, Polish viewers can now support local arthouse cinemas and have access to the film culture.”
