The YMCA of Greater New York serves more than 400,000 New Yorkers who learn, grow, and thrive through programs and services at 24 branches across the city. Among the YMCA’s most critical offerings are swim lessons that teach life-saving water safety skills to over 20,000 participants annually. Through the AWS Imagine Grant program, the YMCA developed an online application to digitize swim skill tracking and measure program impact at scale.

Each year, AWS provides AWS Imagine Grant winners with a holistic package of resources: unrestricted funding, AWS computing credits, and expert technical guidance to move their projects forward. Our three award categories are designed to support organizations at every stage of their cloud journey. This year—for the first time—our winner cohort spans six countries across three continents, with our inaugural nonprofit recipients in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. For over 60 years, the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES) has advanced the credit union industry by developing exceptional leaders through networking, professional development, and digital learning experiences. When the CUES team identified the need to modernize their approach to leadership development, they built a personalized learning recommendation platform powered by AWS, transforming how they deliver content and support member development.

The Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) works to build effective laboratory systems in the US and globally, representing state and local governmental health labs that monitor and detect public health threats. In 2024, APHL successfully applied for the AWS invite-only category of the AWS Imagine Grant, the Children’s Health Innovation Award. Working with their healthcare technology partner Ruvos, APHL received grant funding that included both cash and AWS credits to advance Detor, an electronic test order and result (ETOR) solution developed with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Today, on National Child Health Day, AWS is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 AWS Imagine Grant Children’s Health Innovation Award (CHIA). This year’s cohort recognizes ten leading healthcare, research, and humanitarian organizations who are using AWS to realize a common vision: creating a world where every child has the opportunity to thrive through innovative solutions that predict, prevent, and address health challenges.

To address the global challenge of managing street animal populations, Humane World for Animals has developed Humane World Apps, a comprehensive global data management tool designed to improve dog and cat welfare programs by managing spay and neuter, mass vaccination, and access to care operations. With support from the AWS Imagine Grant—a public grant program that provides both cash and Amazon Web Services (AWS) credit funding to registered nonprofit organizations who are using cloud technology to accelerate their missions—Humane World Apps is transforming how large-scale animal welfare programs operate worldwide.

OpenSecrets is a nonpartisan, independent nonprofit organization whose mission is to serve as the trusted authority on money in American politics. Its vision is for Americans to use data on money in politics to create a more vibrant, representative, and responsive democracy. Through the AWS Imagine Grant—a public grant program that provides both cash and AWS credit funding to registered nonprofit organizations that are using cloud technology to accelerate their missions—OpenSecrets embarked on an ambitious project to revolutionize its political contribution database

CTrees is a nonprofit organization on a mission to track carbon in every living tree on Earth to accelerate natural climate solutions. In 2024, CTrees secured the AWS Imagine Grant, combining cash funding and cloud credits to enhance the organization’s flagship Jurisdictional monitor, report, and verify (JMRV) tool. This free, open data platform provides precise annual measurements of carbon stocks, forest area, emissions, and land use activities—revolutionizing how governments and organizations track climate policy progress and develop jurisdictional carbon credit programs.

On March 26, 2025, nonprofit and technology leaders gathered at AWS Imagine for Nonprofits, hosted at Amazon HQ2 in Arlington, VA, to connect with peers, share success stories, explore ideas, and discover new ways to use technology for the greater good. Connecting for Better Health (C4BH) is a nonprofit coalition focused on advancing health and social services data sharing to improve the overall health of Californians. To support this mission, AWS has awarded the 2024-2025 AWS IMAGINE Grant: Go Further, Go Faster to C4BH for their Data Exchange Framework (DxF) Community Sandbox. This grant is part of an AWS initiative to empower nonprofit organizations using technology to address global challenges and will provide vital support to enhance health and social services data sharing efforts across healthcare and social service partners.
