The AWS Credit Program for Nonprofits offers $1,000 of AWS Promotional Credits annually to 501c3 organizations or global equivalents. With diverse missions to promote health and welfare, achieve medical breakthroughs, protect wildlife, and support many other causes, nonprofits around the world have unique needs. In collaboration with TechSoup Global, this program provides organizations in 50 countries with subsidized access to on-demand services to more easily store large files, keep data secure, and deliver engaging content to local communities.

Today, AWS announced the winners of the 2018 AWS City on a Cloud Innovation Challenge at the AWS Public Sector Summit in Washington, DC. The City on a Cloud Innovation Challenge encourages cities, counties, universities, and organizations serving underserved populations to look to the cloud as they work to make the world a better place. In June 2017, 56 years after the founding of the organization, the White House Historical Association collaborated with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to digitize nearly 20,000 White House photographs, many of which have been in storage for decades and never published until now. The goal was to memorialize their place in history and make educational materials more accessible to the public through the power of the AWS Cloud.

The challenge, supported by Amazon Web Services (AWS), PeaceTech Lab, and SAP NS2, was created to bring together the best and brightest minds working in anti-corruption technology.

The City on a Cloud Innovation Challenge is now open! The City on a Cloud Innovation Challenge is a global program recognizing how local and regional governments are innovating on behalf of their citizens around the globe. Last year, we opened up the competition to school districts who are using the cloud to enrich learning, help teachers reach more students, and improve school or district operations. This year, we are adding a new category to the Challenge: We Power Tech.
