AWS teams up with GIST at the Global Entrepreneurship Congress

AWS joined hundreds of entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers, and other startup champions from more than 170 countries at the 2018 Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC) in Istanbul, Turkey last month. AWS provided mentorship and training to participants and participated as a judge at the U.S State Department’s Global Innovation through Science & Technology (GIST) Tech-I Pitch Competition. The first, second, third place, and Spirit of Tech-I winners were SASHA, ARtour, Her Ground, TechTeb, respectively. The Lebanese startup SASHA builds mobile robots to efficiently transport medical supplies in hospitals; Her Ground is pioneering an online subscription service for women and girls in Pakistan to access hygienic products; ARtour is using Augmented Reality technology to bring the history and culture of Jordan to life for visitors; and Tech Tab is a mobile app for healthcare patients in Jordan which allows them to book home visits for more convenient and accessible delivery of healthcare services. These innovative startups will receive $140K in AWS resources to help scale their ventures. Congrats to all the winners!
