AWS Training and Certification Blog

Upgraded AWS Certification exam guides are now available

Starting today, you can find all AWS Certification exam guides in one place through AWS Documentation. On AWS Documentation, you’ll have access to every exam guide in an up-to-date, user friendly, accessible format – the same way you access AWS service user guides, API references, toolkits, tutorials, and more. Additionally, we’re rolling out a new feature to our exam guides to include a revisions section. The revisions section will increase transparency for candidates about revisions to our exam guides such as changes to skills, and AWS services and features that will be tested on the exam. This feature will be added to exam guides as these revisions take place, starting today with the AWS Certified Developer – Associate (DVA-C02) and the AWS Certified Data Engineer – Associate (DEA-C01). Revisions made to an exam guide will be published at least one month before they appear on the exam.

Today’s release of exam guides on AWS Documentation includes all of the exam guides in English. All other exam guide languages will be released in early 2026. In the meantime, candidates can still find PDFs of the exam guides in other languages on each exam’s respective exam page on our website.

With our web-based exam guides, you’ll know you’re viewing the latest version of the exam guide, rather than a static document that will go out of date. Those who wish to have an offline copy can generate a PDF from AWS Documentation, though we encourage candidates to regularly check back for changes. Finding the specific section of the exam guide you’re looking for is simple when you use the navigation panel on the left side of the page. And each exam guide is labeled with an exam series code, so when we introduce an exam update with a new series code, you can easily identify the correct version of the exam guide you need. When we announce an exam update, we will post a notification at the top of the relevant exam guides that includes key dates such as the last date to take the old version and the first date to take the new version of the exam.

What is the difference between an exam update with a new series code and an exam guide revision?

AWS Certification regularly evaluates the evolution of job roles and skills relevant to the certifications we offer. Depending on how quickly a role evolves, we will need to make revisions or updates to the exam to ensure we validate up-to-date skills. When our evaluation indicates that we will need to make significant updates to the main domains covered on an exam, we will conduct a full job task analysis and prepare for an exam update with a new series code (for example, DVA-C01 to DVA-C02). Our team will then release a new exam guide labeled with the new series code and announce the exam update with an overview of changes and new exam prep resources. When we have less significant changes to make, such as adding or removing skills within a domain or in-scope and out-of-scope services, we will publish a revision to the existing exam guide. The new revisions section of the exam guide will summarize the differences between the previous version and the new version.

We’re excited to offer this new exam guide experience to our AWS Certification candidates.
