Agenda
Open allKick off the day by picking up your badge, grabbing breakfast, and connecting with fellow attendees before sessions begin.
The AWS Financial Services Symposium London agenda is live, and the line up is built for leaders who are shaping the future of UK and European financial services. On 30 September, hear from Alison Kay alongside leaders from Experian and other major financial institutions in a keynote exploring AI adoption, regulatory compliance, cloud modernisation, and customer experience transformation.
Speakers: Louis Joubert (LSEG), Guarav Arora (Experian), Chris Pearce (Ageas), Alison Kay
Every wave of technology has separated the organisations that reorganised around it from those that simply bolted it on. AI demands the same choice, but with a fundamental difference: systems can now reason, exercise judgment, and act at machine speed. The relationship between people and technology shifts from giving step-by-step instructions to expressing intent. Rudra Mitra shares a practical framework for redesigning workflows around AI agents, explains why security is the foundation for giving AI real responsibility, and offers five decisions every leader should focus on to build lasting advantage.
Speaker: Rudra Mitra
Break
Enjoy and reconnect over lunch — a great opportunity to discuss the morning's sessions and build new connections.
FOUN101 – From Under the Desk to the Cloud: Modernising Margin Calls with Kiro
The margin call process at TP ICAP used to run on an Excel spreadsheet tucked under someone’s desk. In this session, we share how the team used Kiro to design and build a fully serverless replacement on AWS — from reverse-engineering undocumented spreadsheet logic through to a production-grade, event-driven architecture handling document ingestion, data extraction, dispute resolution, and reconciliation.
Speakers: Veronica Lanzenby, Alan Wimble, Raveena Ratnakar
FOUN102 – Transforming Investment Operations with Agentic AI at Standard Life
Discover how Standard Life deployed agentic AI across their investment operations from automating credit risk scorecarding across hundreds of assets to delivering AI-powered ESG assessments that enable full portfolio coverage. Explore how they leveraged Amazon Bedrock to build a multi-agent AI platform that autonomously analyses complex financial documents, applies institutional frameworks, and generates assessments at scale, all whilst maintaining complete traceability for regulatory requirements.
Speaker: Grant Kerr, Meena Morrish, Kimessha Paupamah
FOUN103 – From Idea to Enterprise: How Fidelity International Navigates AI at Scale
In this panel session, Fidelity International’s technology leaders share their end-to-end approach to delivering AI at scale — covering rigorous pre-validation (“Shifting Left”), the personal-to-enterprise productivity funnel, and running parallel tracks for rapid experimentation and production-hardened delivery (“The Dual Carriageway”).
Speakers: Prasad Chandrasheker
REIM101 – Building an AI-Native MGA: How Convex Launched an Insurance Business on Autonomous AI Agents
When Convex Insurance decided to launch a new MGA, they built the entire business around autonomous AI from day one. Learn how Convex partnered with AWS and Provectus to design an agentic AI platform that serves as a digital twin for underwriters, automating 70% of non-revenue-generating operations across document processing, submission triage, and underwriting workflows using Amazon Bedrock and AgentCore.
Speakers: Andy Roberts, Meena Morrish, Rahul Kulkarni
REIM102 – From Fragmented Data to Trusted Banking Insights
Moody’s will share how a modern cloud-based approach can transform fragmented banking data into a governed foundation for secure sharing, analytics, and AI. Moody’s Banking Data Management (BDM) on AWS — built on AWS and Databricks — combines cloud-native ingestion, secure storage, tenant-aware controls, and operational resilience, reducing processing time from hours to under 30 minutes.
Speaker: Shailendra Jain
REIM103 – From 4 Days to (almost) Production: How Aflac's House of Kiro Proved Agentic AI Can Replace on Prem Platforms
Insurance organisations spend millions maintaining legacy integration platforms that were never designed for the AI era. When Aflac set out to replace their on Prem data transformation platform, they didn't follow the traditional 12-month migration playbook - they ran a 4-day Experience-Based Acceleration (EBA) with 30 engineers using AI-driven development, and walked away with a production data pipeline.
This session tells that story first-hand: the bet Aflac made on agentic AI, the "House of Kiro" methodology that made it possible, and the measurable outcomes that followed. We'll explore what it takes to move from innovation theatre to production reality - including the architectural decisions, the team dynamics, and the leadership courage required to let engineers build at AI speed.
Speakers: Joana Cavadas, Diane Morrow
ELEV101 – How Zopa Bank and Equals Are Redefining Customer Service on Amazon Connect
Two UK financial services innovators - one born in the cloud, the other transforming from legacy - share contrasting journeys on Amazon Connect. Zopa Bank, a digital-first bank, reveals how it pushed into a fully AI-first service model, driving self-resolution from 17% to 61% and evolving toward agentic customer service on Amazon Bedrock. Equals tells the story of modernising from legacy telephony to a cloud-native, AI-assisted operation. Wiring Connect directly into its event-driven payments platform so agents see real-time customer context the instant a call connects, while scaling across multiple whitelabel brands. Together they offer a candid look at what it takes to build and rebuild, world-class customer service in regulated financial services.
Speakers: Mark Evans, Leif Monument, James Simcox
ELEV102 – Automating Insurance Underwriting with Generative AI: The Tokio Marine Kiln Story
Insurance submissions are complex, often exceeding 100 pages, requiring significant manual review. Learn how Tokio Marine Kiln partnered with AWS to build an intelligent underwriting platform using Generative AI that automates ingestion of emails and large PDF documents, intelligently extracts and classifies key underwriting data, and enriches applications with external data sources.
Speakers: Nirav Shah
ELEV103 – When a Billion Rows Break Your Dashboard: Access Governance at Regulated Scale
A billion rows a day. 900,000 tables. Millions of permissions. An honest, engineering-led account of building an Access Insights platform that scales past QuickSight’s 1-billion-row dataset cap, Lambda concurrency/throttling, S3 access-log volume, and Aurora growth — covering parallelisation, queue/buffering, aggregation, and cost strategies that made hyperscale access governance viable.
Speakers: Colin Renshaw, Jyoti Shaji Edacherry, Chiara Marzano

FOUN104 – AI Agent Scaled to Onboard 1M+ Transactions/yr
Checkout.com processes more than $300 billion in eCommerce payment volumes per year. 20% of transactions produce false compliance matches requiring manual review. Checkout alongside AWS built an AI agent on Bedrock with a risk scoring method to automate 95% of the review process — currently running at 100% accuracy rate.
Speakers: Ignas Sakalauskas, Yannis Skoupras, Nihilson Gnanadason
FOUN105 - When the Account Is Gone: Practicing AWS Recovery After Compromise
Regulatory requirements for operational resilience demand that financial services firms prove they can recover from severe disruption, yet most have never validated their recovery capabilities under realistic conditions. ComparetheMarket, one of UK's price comparison platform, took a different approach. They simulated a complete ransomware scenario in which their entire AWS estate was assumed compromised, then rebuilt minimal viable customer-facing services from an empty AWS Organization to production in under 12 hours.
Using AWS Control Tower, Account Factory for Terraform, and IAM Identity Center, the team rapidly provisioned governed accounts and restored access controls. Security Hub, GuardDuty, and Inspector re-established security baselines, providing confidence that rebuilt infrastructure met compliance standards before going live.
Attendees of this session will learn how to design AWS environments that are recoverable by design, how to structure and execute disaster recovery simulations that satisfy regulatory scrutiny, and the practical pitfalls encountered when rebuilding under pressure. This session is for technology leaders responsible for operational resilience strategy who want to move beyond theoretical recovery plans to proven, tested capabilities.
Speakers: Ricardo Campos, David Moreland, Mihail Stoyanov
FOUN106 – From Experimentation to Enterprise Value: How Acuity Analytics Navigated the Path to Production AI
Acuity Analytics built a production-scale agentic AI platform on Amazon Bedrock — 90+ knowledge bases, 10 autonomous agents, and 60+ inference endpoints processing ~895K invocations per week. They scaled Bedrock consumption 22x in six months while maintaining governance and cost control, and packaged the platform as a client-facing product on AWS Marketplace.
Speakers: Cameron Allan, Arijit Mitra
