Jacaranda Health, a recipient of the 2021 AWS IMAGINE Grant award, uses AWS to power a health platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to connect mothers with timely information about pregnancy care, as well as potentially lifesaving advice and referrals to care facilities when it matters most.

    PBS Innovation Team leverages AWS to take 10th Annual PBS Short Film Festival virtual

    The annual PBS Short Film Festival has returned with a twist. Starting at 5pm ET every day from July 12-August 31, 2021, audiences can watch a curated series of stories from independent filmmakers via immersive WebXR beta experience “Screen on the Green.” Envisioned by the Digital Innovation Team at PBS, the experience is accessible via compatible headsets, including Oculus Quest, or through a web browser, and comprises 25 short films that play back-to-back. To make the experience possible, the PBS Innovation Team leveraged a host of technology from Amazon Web Services (AWS), including AWS Media Services, Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), and Amazon CloudFront.

    PBS Offers Viewers Truly Personalized Experience with Amazon Personalize

    Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) is an Arlington, Virginia-based nonprofit organization founded in 1969 that broadcasts educational, news, and entertainment programs to more than 100 million television viewers across the U.S. and more than 32 million people online. PBS currently has approximately 330-member television stations, distributing the highest quality of content to all 50 U.S. states, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa.PBS wanted to build a smart recommendation engine (SRE) capable of making high-quality suggestions to viewers based on a multitude of factors. To ensure success, PBS decided to partner with a cloud consultancy with AI/ML expertise and deep knowledge of the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform. ClearScale was an excellent match for PBS and gave the nonprofit exactly what it needed to enhance viewer experiences significantly in the streaming age.
